Chapter 78: Chapter 78

The morning light streamed through the blinds on the large office of Caspian Montague in short spits, striped shadows across a cluttered desk.Caspian stirred, a smack playing over and over in his mind, and slowly cracked his eyes open. The space he was in felt alien, completely different from the comfortable familiarity of his own home. His fitted dark suit was rumpled, his emnerald eyes clouded with disorientation and fatigue.

Celeste Montague stood at his desk with arms folded, her auburn hair tousled in loose waves, her elegant black dress a glowing harbinger of serenity in the miasma. As she stretched to reach him, her hand brushed his shoulder. "Caspian, you're awake. How are you feeling?"

He sat up, wincing as pain lanced through his temples. "Where am I?" His voice was hoarse and a little strained, and the lack of sleep and the chaos of the past week were taking their toll.

Celeste's concern softened her eyes as she pulled him toward a chair. "You're safe. "We need to discuss what occurred last night."

Caspian leaned back; his body was sore from hours of continuous tension."I can't go on like this, Celeste. "Each move is driving me deeper into insanity."

She slowly shook her head, still with her hand on his shoulder. You are coming to see a doctor, Caspian. Your health is on the line, and we can't afford to lose you."

He snatched back his hand, lines of frustration cutting deeper into his face.

"Going to therapy won't help. It'll only prove Soren's right about how

unstable I am. I'm not going to let him win by making me look weak."

Celeste moved closer, her tone of voice firm but kind. "Yoư're stronger than you think, Caspian. "Don't let Soren turn you on yourself."

Before he could answer, his phone buzzed on the desk, its screen illuminating the number. This glanced at it, a crease forming in his forehead as he read the note: "Withdraw from the company, or Celeste pays the price."

It sent a chill down his spine; the threat was as real as a knife blade. Fear and anger raced through his mind as he stared at the message. "What do you want?" he used a tone at once desperate and determined.

Celeste picked up the phone and examined the ominous message. "We have to figure out who's doing this," she said, her voice even despite the fear eating at her. "This is going beyond corporate warfare."

Caspian's hand tightened around the phone, his knuckles turning white."Soren is no longer just gaming. He's taking out everything and anyone he can to destroy our lives."

The heaviness of the threat chilled the space between them, and Caspian felt the tenuous ground of their struggle beginning to splinter. The struggle over Hayes Enterprises was becoming a personal affair, with the depth of Soren's hatred only now being revealed.

In the grand hallway of Sterling Price's mansion, opulent decorations filled the spacious room, with the soft glow of lanterns pouring over the polished marble floors. Talia Montague walked quietly down the hallway.her auburn hair pulled back and her emerald eyes darting around me more alert than ever. Dressed in a simple black blazer and fitted trousers, she carried an air of both sophistication and resolve as she strode toward Celeste's private study.

Inside. Celeste was sitting at her desk, the dossier that Talia had sent her arranged about her. The documents chronicled Sterling's elaborate blackmail plots, page after page, of the depths of his manipulation and fantastical duping. Talia walked into the room and shut the door behind her so that people would not hear their conversation.

"Celeste," Talia started quietly, almost in a whisper, "I couldn't just stand by while my father ruined everything. "This dossier has everything you need to bring him to light."

Celeste raised her head, her emerald eyes swimming with gratitude and worry. "Talia, you made the right choice. This is important for our upcoming steps. Thank you for trusting me."

Talia nodded, her face set. "We need to move quickly. Sterling will not hesitate to retaliate if he learns we have this evidence."

Before Celeste could answer the sound of footstepssounded from the hallway. Sterling Price walked in, striding across the room, his bright blue eyes boring into Talia. "Talia," he growled, his tone freezing and commanding, "we need to talk."

Talia held her ground, her heart beating inside her chest. "Father, I've seen what you're doing. No longer can I be part of it."

Sterling's smile was thin, a veneer over his fury. "You're making a huge mistake, Talia. There are consequences for betrayal. Do you understand?"

She breathed deeply, still undeterred by his threats. "I'm opting for what's right, not loyalty to you. Hayes Enterprises deserves better."

Sterling closed in, his manner threatening. "You know what happens to those who stand up to me. "Sow... think carefully about your next move."

He walked out, and a heavy silence fell in the room, the threat lingering in the air. The implication struck Talia like a bolt of lightning, sending shivers down her spine as she understood the extent of Sterling's influence quickly, far beyond what she had first thought. The fight against her father was now more intimate and dangerous than ever.

Roman Martinez paused, standing in the dim room, evidence he had uncovered spread in front of him. The vault documents were undeniable, detailing Soren Montague's criminal dealings and financial schemes through a web of front companies. Tangled dark strands fell over his brows from hours of working on the case, and his bright emerald eyes glimmered with intensity as he readied to present his arguments to Caspian and Celeste.

Into the room stepped Caspian, his face both weary and resolute, and immediately behind him, Celeste, her auburn hair falling around her in free waves. Roman waved his hand to indicate the files, his voice smooth and commanding. "These records are irrefutable evidence Soren is laundering illegal funds in order to pull the strings at Hayes Enterprises from the shadows. We have to expose him, but we need to do so without further incriminating Caspian."

Caspian studied the documents, narrowing his eyes and feigning indifference, yet the gears in his brain were spinning, planning new strategies. "We need a way to make this evidence public without tying it directly to me." "Soren is already painting me as unstable, and we can't give him more ammunition."

Celeste stepped up, her tone strong and crisp. "We can smuggle the documents through a trusted journalist. Let the media do their exposing.and let them avoid connecting it back to us directly, other than simply pointing out his corruption."

Roman nodded as he listened, even as his brain churned up the next stages of his plan1. "I know journalists in the investigative field. I can meet tonight to figure out how we can release this info and keep our jobs."

Already deep in their huddle, the conference room door crashed open and caught in the tense quiet. The board members filed in, their expressions ranging from concern to scepticism. Caspian felt the storm coming;it struck him hard to know that Soren was fast-tracking his plans.

Before they could talk more, a message popped up on Roman's phone:"Board meeting moved up to tomorrow morning. Be ready." The urgency of the situation settled down upon them, the clock ticking toward a turning point.

Caspian and Celeste shared a look, theirsilent resolve betraying the seriousness of the hour. "Things are happening faster than we predicted. We have to be proactive and stay ahead of Soren."

The battle to retake Hayes Enterprises had entered a fevered stage, and as they exited the conference room with the burden of their task heavy on their shoulders... Their journey to uncover the truth about Soren's treachery would be perilous and unpredlictable, but they were prepared to stand up to the unyielding onslaught of lies.
