In the wake of their sudden departure, Hillmountain and Ridgemountain were left in a state of shock. Their faces were a mirror of their gratitude towards Ridgeland and the driver, who had saved them from the unexpected assault.
"Christian... thank you!" Hillmountain finally managed to stutter out, her voice shaky but sincere as she expressed her gratitude towards Ridgeland.
"Don't thank me, thank Westfield instead!" Ridgeland replied, her face devoid of any emotion.
The mere mention of Westfield's name caused a visible shift in Hillmountain and Ridgemountain's expressions. Hillmountain's face was a mask of shock, her mind struggling to process the information, while Ridgemountain's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Do you know Westfield? What's your relationship with him? Do you know where he is right now?" Ridgemountain bombarded Ridgeland with questions, her voice tinged with anticipation.
"Why are you looking for him?" Ridgeland countered, her expression turning wary.
"We... It's my daughter. She is Westfield's wife. They had a disagreement before, so she wants to explain things to Westfield in person. Can you take us to find Westfield, please?" Ridgemountain quickly explained, gesturing towards Hillmountain.
"Mom, don't beg her!" Hillmountain's face twisted in anger. If there was someone she despised the most at this moment, it was undoubtedly Westfield. She was convinced that her current predicament was a direct result of his heartless actions. Ridgemountain hushed her voice and retorted angrily, "You're being foolish! We ended up in this situation because of Westfield. Don't you want to take matters into your own hands? This company might be Westfield's, not to mention that woman mentioned getting those three things back. Those are our things, don't you want them?" "Are you stupid? You and Westfield are married. It's just a fight, not something that can't be resolved! Besides, we don't even have a place to stay now. Are you going to let me sleep on the streets with you?" Ridgemountain chastised Hillmountain, her voice heavry with frustration. Ridgeland, upon hearing this, fel a pang of sympathy."Alright, both of you, come with me." She offered, then turned and climbed into the passenger seat, leaving the back seat for the mother and daughter.
"John up and get in!" Ridgemountain, elated, quickly pulled a reluctant Hillmountain into the car.
Ridgeland directed the driver to head straight to her company. Throughout the journey, Ridgemountain attempted to butter up Ridgeland with flattery, but Ridgeland paid her no mind. Finally, irked, she asked, "Earlier, Hillmountain mentioned that you pawned something at the casino that Westfield gave her. Is that true?11
"...Yes! I had no other choice!" Ridgemountain admitted, her voice laced with embarrassment.
"As for the item, I can help you retrieve it, but you have to tell me everything honestly," Ridgeland stated calmly, her gaze fixed on Ridgemountain.
"Don't you have a place to stay? Here are a few thousand dollars for you to find a place to live. When we arrive at my company, Hillmountain will familiarize herself with everything and work there. When Westfield comes back, I will let him personally resolve this matter!" Ridgeland casually pulled out a wad of cash from her bag and handed it to Ridgemountain.
It wasn't that she was overly generous, but she felt that Westfield needed to confront this issue himself. She didn't want him to harbor any future regrets or grudges.
Ridgemountain was ecstatic at this proposition and showered Ridgeland with thanks.
Soon, they arrived at Ridgeland's company. After exiting the car, Hillmountain pulled Ridgemountain aside and scolded her for trying to ingratiate herself with Ridgeland and agreeing to work at the company. Hearing this, a spark of determination ignited in Hillmountain's eyes. Ridgemountain's words made her realize that this could be her opportunity to exact revenge on Westfield!
She wasn't seeking his forgiveness, that was certain!
She was merely finding a way to retaliate!
She wanted to strip Westfield of everything and leave him with nothing!
