Chapter 314: Chapter 314

Half a month later.

Vincent Grandelle was finally transferred out of the sterile isolation room.

Sophia Laurent and Alexander Valentine rushed to the hospital immediately.

The elderly man on the hospital bed was shockingly thin. His once-full cheeks had sunken, his limbs were withered like sticks, and his skin hung loosely over his bones.

The doctor explained quietly, "This is normal. Weight loss is better than a relapse."

Vincent took handfuls of medication daily, occasionally coughing, but his vitals remained stable. The doctors said the transplant had exceeded expectations—now it was a matter of reaching the five-year survival milestone.

When he saw Sophia, tears welled up in his clouded eyes.

He grasped her hand with trembling fingers. "Child... your master has wronged you..."

Sophia spoke softly, "It was a misunderstanding—I wasn’t pregnant. Didn’t Alexander tell you?"

"He did..." Vincent choked on his words.

His gaze lingered on the faint silver strands in her hair and her pallid complexion. After the bone marrow donation, she seemed to have aged overnight, like a withering gardenia.

"This old man... even my own granddaughter refused to save me..." He struck the bed rail in self-reproach. "What a sin..."

Sophia wanted to say, I’m also your granddaughter.

But with people coming and going in the ward, she swallowed the words.

She stayed less than ten minutes before excusing herself.

The moment she left, Vincent instructed Alexander to summon Attorney Shi.

"Amend the will," the old man said weakly but firmly.

Attorney Shi was startled. "What changes would you like to make?"

"Transfer Isabella’s share to Sophia."

"But..." The lawyer hesitated. "Miss Laurent is only your apprentice..."

Vincent shook his head slowly. "She gave me my life. Half my fortune isn’t enough—she deserves all of it."

Alexander suddenly spoke up. "Grandfather, give my share to Sophia as well."

Vincent looked at his grandson in surprise.

Alexander’s expression was solemn. "She donated marrow to save you, despite believing she was pregnant. Only later did we learn it was a false alarm. Now she has back pain, white hair—these are irreversible damages."

What he left unsaid was that she had also saved his life.

Vincent wept openly. "Good. Give it all to her..."

As soon as Attorney Shi stepped out of the ward, he ran into Victoria Windsor.

"Why were you meeting with my father?" she demanded suspiciously.

"Just visiting Mr. Grandelle." The lawyer hurried away.

Victoria stormed into the room. "Dad, did you change the will?"

"Yes." Vincent closed his eyes wearily. "Sophia saved my life."

"How much did you give her?"

"Isabella’s and Alexander’s shares—all to her."

Victoria exploded. "Have you lost your mind? Giving family assets to an outsider?"

"My money, my choice." Vincent’s voice turned icy. "One tried to kill me, the other saved me. Who would you give it to?"

"Isabella was scared of the G-CSF injections! Those drugs can be deadly!"

Vincent waved a dismissive hand. "I’m tired."

Victoria dragged Alexander out of the room.

"Are you stupid? Handing over a fortune like that!" She stamped her foot in fury.

Alexander replied calmly, "It’s fair."

"Fair my ass!" Victoria snarled. "I’m going to find that little bitch right now!"

She cornered Sophia outside the hospital pharmacy.

"Quite the schemer!" Victoria sneered. "Tricking the old man into giving you everything!"

Sophia understood instantly.

She smirked. "Says the woman who nearly killed her own father?"

Victoria lunged to grab her. "Come back and undo that will!"

Sophia reached for her pepper spray—

Thud!

Victoria collapsed to the ground.
