"Let's get divorced."
Audrey Sullivan's voice cut through the air like a blade.
Victor Sullivan's pupils constricted sharply.
The man who had dominated the business world for decades now felt an unfamiliar pang in his chest.
He forced composure. "Audrey, stop this nonsense."
She smirked coldly. "I'm perfectly sober."
Victor frowned. "Because I wiped Isabella's dress?"
Isabella Valentine shrank back, standing up timidly. "Aunt Audrey—"
"Shut it." Audrey didn't even glance her way.
Turning to Victor, she said flatly, "I've had enough."
His face darkened. "The company's stock will take a hit."
"Then we'll keep it quiet."
"I refuse!"
Audrey scoffed. "It's not up to you."
As she turned to leave, Victor slammed his palm against the door lock.
"Move." Her gaze was glacial.
He gritted his teeth. "What do you really want?"
"To end this farce." Each word was deliberate. "You only married me for the Laurent Group, didn't you?"
Victor's expression twisted.
"Who are you pretending to care for now?" She shoved past him without a backward glance.
The door slammed shut. A second later, the coffee table crashed to the floor under Victor's kick.
"Get in here!"
His assistant entered, trembling.
Slap!
A stinging blow landed across the man's face.
"Who authorized her keycard?"
The assistant clutched his cheek. "Madam said you—"
"Out!"
As the man retreated, Victor added icily, "Put a tail on her."
——
Audrey knocked on Sophia Laurent's suite door.
"Mom!" Sophia beamed, rushing forward.
Audrey pinched her cheek affectionately. "My radiant daughter-in-law."
Ethan Sullivan emerged from the inner room. "Success?"
Audrey flopped onto the sofa. "Your father's face was priceless."
She mimicked Victor's panicked expression, making Sophia giggle.
"Seriously divorcing?" Ethan asked.
"Long overdue." Rubbing her temples, Audrey sighed. "These years, even looking at him disgusts me."
After a pause, Ethan probed, "Seeing someone else?"
"Brat!" She playfully swatted at him.
Sophia brought over a fruit platter. "Mom, have some."
Audrey's mood instantly lifted. "Only my daughter-in-law knows how to pamper me."
Her expression sobered. "Ethan, take Sophia to visit Evelyn."
Ethan tightened his grip on Sophia's hand. "Understood."
As Audrey stood to leave, she warned her son, "Hurt her, and I'll break your legs."
Sophia stifled a laugh.
Ethan sighed. "Safe travels."
——
Once alone, Sophia asked curiously, "Who's Aunt Evelyn?"
Ethan's eyes dimmed. "Someone... very important."
