Chapter 98: Chapter 98

Sophia froze.

She stared down at her flat stomach in disbelief.

After months of meticulous preparation and repeated disappointments...

Now, when she'd given up hope, it had happened silently.

Without hesitation, Ethan tossed his grilled squid into the trash.

"Let's go home." He took her hand. "Maggie will prepare a nutritious meal."

Sophia chuckled. "It's too early for that."

"Doesn't matter." His tone brooked no argument.

His steps were steady, his expression calm, but his mind was in turmoil.

Sophia remained more composed than him.

Passing a pharmacy, she paused.

"Let's get a pregnancy test to confirm."

"I'll go." Ethan helped her into the car, carefully shielding her head.

Ten minutes later, he returned with an entire bag of tests.

Sophia's eyes widened. "Why so many?"

"Better safe than sorry." His expression remained unreadable.

At home, the results were unmistakable.

Two pink lines.

Sophia rushed out waving the test stick, eyes crinkling with joy. "It's true!"

Ethan's face darkened.

"What's wrong?" Her smile faltered.

"I shouldn't have taken you swimming today." His brow furrowed. "Too risky."

Sophia sat beside him, speaking softly. "I'm fine. Don't blame yourself."

Ethan pulled her onto his lap, his palm covering her abdomen.

The flatness beneath his touch made his heart swell.

He quickly distracted himself by reaching for his phone.

"Radiation." He abruptly set Sophia aside. "Keep your distance."

Amused, she obediently retreated three meters away.

When the call connected, Ethan announced solemnly: "Audrey, congratulations on becoming a grandmother."

Laughter came through the phone. "Likewise, future father."

Their exchange made Sophia stifle a giggle.

"Don't tell your father." Audrey's voice turned icy.

"Obviously." Ethan smirked. "He doesn't deserve to know."

After hanging up, warmth filled Sophia's chest.

When Ethan moved to call Eleanor, she stopped him.

"Let's confirm at the hospital tomorrow first."

At dinner, Sophia had little appetite.

Ethan immediately had someone fetch sweet-and-sour fruits.

That night, he positioned a sofa beside their bed.

He slept precariously on the edge, nearly falling off.

"This isn't necessary," Sophia sighed.

"You're a national treasure now," he declared seriously.

The next morning at the hospital lab...

As the female doctor prepared to draw blood, Ethan spoke up: "Please be gentle. My wife is sensitive to pain."

The doctor looked up into intense dark eyes.

That handsome face made her blush instantly.

"Don't worry, I'll be very careful," she cooed, her voice softening.

The needle barely pricked Sophia's skin.

She marveled silently at the power of male charm.

"Dizzy?" Ethan asked anxiously.

Sophia shook her head. "Stop overreacting."

After they left, the medical staff buzzed:

"A man that handsome who dotes on his wife? Rare."

"His wife's stunning too. A perfect match."

The test confirmed the pregnancy.

Ethan immediately called Eleanor.

"Grandmother, you're going to be a great-grandmother."

Silence stretched on the other end.

Eleanor clutched the phone, tears streaming down her face.
