With that, she was about to get up.
But Chris grabbed her arm. "Stop talking crap, just change it!"
Amelia bit her lip, trying to stay calm.
In the end, she gave in and looked at-his crotch, feeling a bit helpless."
Why don't you take it off yourself first, and then I'll..."
"Then why do I need you?" His words hit her like a bucket of cold water.
Even though he said that, Amelia still felt embarrassed, and her expression turned awkward.
"Let me help you up first," she said. "Otherwise, I can't take it off."
Chris's face suddenly darkened.
But strangely, he cooperated, using her outstretched hand to slowly and cautiously stand up.
Amelia went to unbutton his pants.
But she had never done such a thing before, and after fumbling for a long time, she still couldn't figure out how to undo the damn button.
For some inexplicable reason, his genitals seemed to have changed a bit.
"Enough! What are you fumbling around for?" He suddenly swatted her hand away. "You're so stupid,go out and get the nurse to change it."
Alright, he was the one who wanted her to change it, and now he refused to do it.
Amelia had no choice but to walk out to get a nurse.
She didn't expect to see Leila.
Leila's face was livid, glaring straight at her.
Leila was holding a thermos box, obviously having made a loving lunch for Chris.
Amelia couldn't quite describe her feelings and decided to ignore her.
"Amelia, stop right there." Leila's voice was low but urgent. "What were you just doing?"
Because of her anger, her tone had changed, making it particularly harsh.
Amelia guessed that she must have seen something through the small window on the door.
"How could you be such a whore, doing that for him..." Leila couldn't finish her sentence, glaring at Amelia as if she wanted to tear her apart.
Amelia realized that she had misunderstood.
"What,do you want to try too?" She didn't bother to explain, knowing Leila wouldn't believe her. "You can go ahead."
"You..." Leila was so angry her face turned grim.
Before she could finish her sentence, Amelia had already left, leaving behind a frail figure.
She had been stifled in the ward with Chris all morning, feeling awful, so she took the opportunity to walk in the garden downstairs to relieve her mood.
"Amelia." Lucius's voice came from not far away.
Amelia was stunned for a moment, then turned to see Lucius approaching.
"Mr. Howard, what brings you here?" She was a bit surprised. Didn't he get along poorly with Chris? Why was he here?
"My father asked me to come by when I had time, and I also have some business to discuss with Chris. Why aren't you upstairs?"
His voice was gentle and elegant, very soothing.
Amelia thought that Lucius and Chris were two extremes, one irritable and easy to get angry, the other always emotionally stable.
These two were born to be at odds.
"The doctor is changing his dressing, so I came out for a walk," Amelia explained.
"How have you been feeling lately? Have you told Chris about your pregnancy?" Lucius asked.
The question was too direct and Amelia didn't know how to answer for a moment.
She instinctively touched her lower abdomen, where a lovely little baby was growing, her future family, possibly her only one.
"I'll tell him in a few days. Mr. Howard, please keep it a secret for me,"she said.
Lucius smiled. "Of course."
He looked at her quietly. It was hard to imagine that such a weak girl had
saved them both at a critical moment.
But she didn't even know that the people she saved were them.
Fate sure has a funny way of working things out.
After their chat, he handed her a gray folder. "I'm not going upstairs. Please pass it to him."
Amelia sat downstairs for quite a while. She knew Chris would lose his temper if she still stayed here. So she slowwly made her way upstairs.
"Mr. Spencer, this is fromMr.Howard..."
As soon as she opened the door, she was shocked by the scene in front of her.
Leila was feeding Chris.
They were sitting very close, Leila practically in Chris's lap, carefully feeding him oatmeal, looking all lovey-dovey.
Chris was also playing along, silently eating.
"Can't you see we are busy here, Amelia? Why don't you wait outside for a bit?" Leila's face had a smile, but her voice was cold and full of provocation.
It was like she was saying, 'Amelia, see, Chris and I are the perfect match,he loves me the most.'
Amelia hadn't expected this.
Her heart ached, like a dull knife cutting flesh.
She had clearly decided to let go of Chris, to leave him.
But she still felt hurt seeing this scene.
"Then I won't disturb you, carry on." She took a deep breath, barely suppressing the pain in her heart, placed the folder on the table, and silently retreated.
"Stop!" Chris suddenly spoke, "Did I allow you to leave?"
He had an aura of authority, even a simple sentence was enough to make people tremble.
Leila was puzzled, "Chris, she..."
"Who gave you this?" Chris's cold gaze swept over the folder on the table.
Amelia then understood why he suddenly acted up.
"It was Mr. Howard, he asked me to give it to you," she explained calmly, holding back the urge to curse.
Leila, however, said sarcastically, "Oh? Mr. Howard wants to discuss business with Chris, but didn't give it to him personally, instead, he gave it to you. Are you two very close, or is there something special between you?"
"It's none of your business." Amelia retorted.
"Chris, look at her, clearly guilty, yet questioning others. Doesn't she know any decency? She hasn't even divorced you yet, and she's already so wanton." Leila snuggled up to Chris, lightly, not daring to lean too close.
"Yes, some people are just like that." Chris snorted coldly,"So how should we punish her?"
Leila was stunned.
"Kick her out, Chris, out of sight, out of mind, let her get far away, so we don't have to..."
"Did you hear that?" Chris glared at Amelia, "Get out."
Amelia's heartache reachedI its peak.
Her head was aching and dizzy, her vision blurred.
She didn't delay for a second, turned and left.
She almost fell due to her fast pace, luckily she held onto the wall.
It was okay, her wounds could heal on their own.
She stayed in a secluded place for a long time, until her vision cleared, then slowly walked out, but hadn't taken a few steps before Ryder stopped her.
"Mrs. Spencer." Ryder stood at the corner of the hallway, his eyes calm.quietly watching her, "You can't leave."
"Chris has told me to leave," she was puzzled.
"Please come with me." Ryder made a"please" gesture.
Amelia shook her head, "I'm not going," she vaguely sensed how she would be treated next.
"This is Mr. Spencer's order, please don't make it dificult for me." Ryder was a bit helpless.
Meanwhile,in the ward.
Leila continued to pick up the bowl, "Chris, you barely ate, have some more.otherwise later..."
"You can leave now." Chris suddenly spoke.
Before Leila could react, someone came in to escort her out.
"Chris, what are you doing? I need to stay and take care of you."
"No need." Chris's voice was as cold as ever, showing no emotion.
