Chapter 46: Chapter 46

"Hey everyone," Leila said, taking off her sunglasses and flashing her trademark smile, instantly grabbing everyone's attention.

Amelia noticed her too but stayed cool, watching as Leila mingled with the crowd like she owned the place.

Finally, Leila made her way over, smiling. "Ms. White, nice to meet you."

Leila extended her hand, locking eyes with Amelia.

Amelia gave a polite smile and shook her hand. "Hello, Ms. Ross. I've heard a lot about you. You really live up to the hype."

Her tone was flat, showing she was used to these kinds of social events and the formalities that came with them.

As their hands met, Amelia felt Leila's palm was sweaty.

Their eyes met, and Leila's voice dropped to a whisper, "Are you Ms.White or Ms. Tudor? I can't tell."

The moment Leila walked into the gallery and saw Bella, she was struck.

Logic told her Amelia was long gone, a victim of her own schemes.

But Bella looked so much like Amelia, especially her features.

"You're not the first to ask, and you won't be the last, but my patience is wearing thin. I don't want to explain it every time." Amelia said coolly, trying to pull her hand back, but Leila held on tight.

With two stunning women in the same frame, the media outside went wild.snapping photos like crazy.

"Aren't you Amelia?" Lella smirked, "You better not be, because Chris and I are engaged, and no one can come between us."

"Seems like Ms. Ross is a bit insecure about her fiancé," Amelia raised an eyebrow, a flicker of disdain in her eyes. Taking advantage of Leila's distraction, she yanked her hand free.

She called over a waiter and wiped her hands with a warm towel right in front of everyone.

The crowd buzzed with shock.

Wasn't this a blatant insult?

Rumor had it Bella was tough to deal with, had a bad temper, and only smiled around Lucius. Guess the rumors were true.

"You..." Leila's face turned red with anger.

Amelia just smiled lightly, "Ms. Ross, why embarrass yourself?"

With that,she walked away.

But Leia wasn't done, "Ms. White, I have a painting here I'd like you to check out. See if it's one of your early works."

She clapped her hands, and two people brought in a painting covered with a red cloth.

Everyone looked confused.

Leila pulled off the cloth, revealing the painting in front of everyone.

"Who's in the painting? He looks so familiar."

"The painting is incredible. Is it Ms. White's work?"

"What's she trying to do, ruin the gallery opening?"

Amelia recognized it immediately; it was a painting she had sold when she was desperate. It showed Chris's back.

It turned out Leila had bought it.

No wonder the buyer was so generous; offering five million dollars.

"Sorry, I've never painted this." She shook her head slightly, "If Ms. Ross is in a bad mood, there's some dessert over there. I'll be excusing myself."

"Ms. White, are you afraid of facing your past?" Leila's voice suddenly rose, sharp and challenging.

Amelia paused for a moment.

She turned her head, looking at Leila like she was a joke. "My past? Ms.Ross, can you be straightforward with me?"

Leila was about to speak when she noticed Lucius nearby, and her body tensed up.

But she still pushed forward, "Amelia, don't think changing your looks will make you unrecognizable."

All eyes were on Amelia.

"Amelia?" She looked genuinely confused, "Who's that?"

The crowd was shocked. What was Leila talking about? Why would she create problems on the gallery's opening day?

Leila noticed the unfriendly stares but still stepped closer, lowering her voice, "Don't think I don't know what you're up to, you..."

"Security." Amelia had enough. She glanced at the plainclothes bodyguard beside her, "This lady's had too much to drink. Please escort her out to rest."

Leila's face darkened, "Amelia, one day you'll slip up!"

Her only comfort now was getting engaged to Chris early.

When Victor was seriously ill and worried Chris had no heirs, she proposed the engagement, and Chris eventually agreed.

But even though she often called herself Chris's fiancée, he never acknowledged it publicly, making her anxious.

Now with Bella around, Leila was especially worried she'd mess things up.

This little drama was soon forgotten. After a few rounds of drinks, guests started buying their favorite artworks.

"Your paintings are excellent." Lucius said, holding a wine glass and smiling, "A lot of people here like them. You should be happy."

Amelia smiled politely, but there was some anxiety in her eyes because Chris hadn't taken the bait yet.

Everything she did today was for him.

She wanted to get close to him, attract him, and get what she wanted as quickly as possible, no matter the cost, before he figured out her true intentions

So she had to take it carefully.

"Don't worry." Lucius held her wrist, comforting her, "What's meant to happen will happen. Just relax."

Amelia realized she was losing her cool, took a deep breath, "I see."

As the opening ceremony wrapped up, guests started saying their goodbyes, and Amelia finally felt a bit relieved.

Today was just about making a reappearance, showing up with a new identity.

Until the last guest left.

"Ms. White, a guest just bought your painting 'Moonlight' for fiftymillion dollars." The sales associate ran over, her voice trembling with excitement.

Amelia was stunned.

Who was so generous? Her painting was only priced at three hundred thousand dollars.

"The guest wants to see you. He's in the second-floor reception room." As the sales associate finished speaking, Amelia already had a guess.

As she expected, he had taken the bait.

She took a deep breath, informed Lucius, and went up to the second floor alone.

The door was half-open, and through the crack, she saw a tall, straight figure. Who else could it be but Chris?

Amelia's breathing hitched. She bit her lip and knocked on the door.

Chris paused for a moment and then spoke slowly, "Come in."

Only then did she step inside.

The place where he stood seemed to radiate a powerful chill, making the air feel icy, sending a shiver through Amelia's heart.
