Amelia was at a loss for words. "It's kinda sour. Maybe adding some sugar to the tomato sauce would make it better."
Chris felt a wave of frustration. Fabian had told him to add sugar while he was cooking, but he only put in half a spoon because he remembered Amelia didn't like sweet food.
He didn't expect to get criticized for it.
"Aren't you the one who doesn't like sweet stuff?" he asked, feeling a bit down.
Amelia's gaze turned cold. "I've always liked sweet food. You must be confusing me with someone else."
Chris glared at her, sullen. "You're lucky to have food to eat. Just eat it."
"When are you going back?" Amelia asked.
Chris was infuriated. "I haven't even been here for two days, and youa're already trying to get ridof me!"
"Mr. Victor Spencer wanted me to reflect on my own here, not with you.If he finds out..."
"Cut the crap. Once you recover, I'll take you out," Chris said, standing up abruptly and leaving.
With a professional medical team treating her and a top-notch nutritionist taking care of her, Amelia recovered in less than three weeks.
During this time, Chris stayed there, insisting on helping take care of her.
He slept on the companion bed in her room at night, made her breakfast in the morning, ordered her to nap in the afternoon, and took her out to see the sea in the evening.
As time passed, the anxiety and restlessness hidden in Amelia's heart gradually disappeared.
One day, he took her out to sea and prepared bird food for her to feed the seagulls on the deck.
Amelia wore a pristine white dress, and as the sea breeze blew, her silhouette became faintly visible.
Chris watched silently, his thoughts drifting away.
At this moment, she was pure and unadorned, her long hair quietly draped over her shoulders, looking more and more like the Amelia from the past.
Sometimes he feltlike it wasn't four years later, but they had gone back to the past.
He wasn't sure how his feelings had changed, only that every moment spent with her now made him extremely content.
Suddenly, Amelia let out a cry of surprise, dropping the bird food in her hand.
Chris quickly approached. "What's wrong?"
Amelia's face was pale. Her hand had been pecked by a bird's beak, turning red and slightly painful.
"It's nothing," she said, pushing his hand away.
It had been almost a month, and she still instinctively rejected his closeness.
Chris didn't get angry. He picked up another bag of bird food, poured it into his hand, and extended his arm over the deck. "Watch this."
Many seagulls flew down, standing on the deck railing and eating the bird food from his hand.
Amelia's expression gradually changed, a hint of joy appearing.
Seeing her in a good mood, Chris was about to speak when a seagull suddenly took off and then pooped on his shoulder.
Amelia witnessed the scene and couldn't stop laughing. "Haha, Chris, a seagull pooped on you."
Chris's anger inexplicably dissipated.
Her laughter was beautiful and pure and reminded him of the Amelia he first met.
Yes, when they first met at a party a few years ago, she was such a lively and adorable girl.
But later, things changed, and her spirit was gradually extinguished.
"Are you OK?" Amelia waved her hand in front of him.
Chris suddenly stepped forward and hugged her.
"The day after tomorrow, there's an auction at Celestria. I'll take you there to relax and have some fun," Chris said.
Amelia pulled away from his embrace. "No, your grandpa won't let me go
out."
"Grandpa isn't here now, it's just us. I'm in charge," Chris replied."There will be an original painting by Thomas Lawrence at the auction. You've been a big fan of him for a long time."
Amelia was immediately tempted.
That evening, she packed her things in her room. Chris said the trip would take at least four or five days, and after the auction, they could explore the area.
She wanted to bring a few more clothes. Standing by the bed,she placed the folded clothes into the suitcase when suddenly a warm hand touched her waist, making her feel ticklish.
She stiffened and turned to glare at Chris. "What are you doing? My period is coming soon."
"That means it hasn't come yet," Chris said, picking her up and walking towards the bed.
Amelia hurriedly struggled. "I'm not fully recovered yet!"
Chris's face immediately fell. He had clearly asked the doctor, and she was now fit for sex.
Fine, women were delicate. He would respect that.
"When will you be ready?" he asked, sitting on her bed and picking up a silk nightgown. "This dress is beautiful. It would look great on you."
Amelia ignored him.
They took a night flight and arrived at the hotel provided by the
organizers the next afternoon.
After settling in, they went downstairs to eat.
They didn't notice a strange gaze fixed on them from behind.
Stella couldn't believe her eyes as she watched the two figures walking away, thinking she must be mistaken.
Amelia, no, she was Bella now.
Wasn't she Lucius's girlfriend? How could she be with Chris now? She really was shameless, climbing up to Lucius wasn't enough, she also wanted to seduce Chris.
"What's wrong?" Jared Cruz asked, coming up behind her and noticing her unpleasant face.
Jared was her new boyfriend, whose family was in the diamond business. He was very wealthy and adored her, fulfilling her every wish.
He had suggested bringing her to this auction, claiming he wanted to buy her a sapphire necklace once worn by a European princess.
Stella shook her head. "Nothing, let's go eat."
But she was thinking that Amelia and Chris were probably here for the auction too. She needed to find a way to teach that bitch a lesson.
"Celestria has been unstable lately, with armed groups frequently active. We should be careful," Jared said, putting his arm around Stella's shoulder.
Stella paused, a flash of inspiration crossing her mind.
An armed attack? She had never encountered such a thing, and Amelia
probably hadn't either.
"Stella, what are you thinking?" Jared thought his words had scared her and patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, this area is absolutely safe."
Stella nodded, but she was thinking that anything was possible.
After all, an attack on foreign guests could affect the political situation between two countries.
After dinner, Amelia and Chris returned to the hotel around midnight.Amelia yawned but noticed two rows of armed soldiers outside the hotel, which surprised her.
"What are they doing? Why are they carrying guns?"
Chris explained, "The auction attracts wealthy businessmen from various countries. The Celestria government is taking extra precautions to prevent any trouble."
Amelia made a mental note to be cautious.
