Chapter 155: Chapter 155

After dinner, Ethan Roscente helped Jenna Roland clear the table as usual.

His slender fingers picked up the dishes, stacking them with practiced ease.

"How about installing a dishwasher?" Ethan suddenly suggested.

He frowned at the pile of greasy plates in the sink, reminded of the mountain of paperwork at his office.

Jenna squeezed dish soap onto a sponge and shook her head. "It's just a few dishes. No need to waste money."

She remembered the price tag on the dishwasher she'd seen at the mall—equivalent to half a year's salary for her.

"Money isn't an issue," Ethan said flatly.

Jenna turned to him, her tone serious. "You just bought a house and a new car. You must be tight on cash. If you hate washing dishes, I'll handle it from now on."

Drying her hands, she flashed him a warm smile.

Ethan paused mid-motion.

This penthouse duplex had been reserved for him during the property development—it cost him nothing. As for the "new" car, it was merely the ninth vehicle in his garage.

The irony almost made him laugh.

"Mr. Roscente," Jenna said abruptly, her expression turning solemn. "You can stop transferring money to that account. If the Red Cross covers Milo's surgery, I can return the funds to you."

The plate nearly slipped from Ethan's grasp.

He remembered suspecting her of ulterior motives, yet here she was offering to help him.

"How much is in there?" His voice came out rough.

"About $25,000." Jenna counted on her fingers. "Do you need it?"

Ethan studied her clear, guileless eyes. "What if I borrowed all of it?"

"Of course," she agreed instantly. "But we should confirm Milo's medical expenses first. What do you need the money for?"

"An investment."

Jenna's eyes lit up. "Having ambition is wonderful! Once we hear from the Red Cross, the money's yours."

Ethan's expression darkened abruptly. "Aren't you afraid I'm scamming you?"

He stepped closer, his imposing frame casting a shadow over her.
