The twilight painted the sky with fiery hues as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Jenna Roland weaved through traffic on her e-bike, the wind tousling her hair. Gazing at the golden-orange afterglow, she hummed a cheerful tune.
Ethan Roscente's stern face surfaced in her mind. Who would've thought this seemingly cold man could be so kindhearted?
First, he arranged for Dr. Liam Melford to perform Milo's surgery. Then he secured aid from a charity foundation. She'd remember this debt of gratitude.
If Ethan was willing to make this marriage work, she'd cherish it with all her heart.
The neon lights of Studio 54 glowed brightly against the night sky.
"Hey, what's got you so happy?" Stella Laurent slung an arm around Jenna's shoulders, eyes sparkling.
"Better than finding treasure." Jenna winked mysteriously.
"Spill!" Stella pressed eagerly.
"Milo's surgery funds are settled." Jenna lowered her voice. "A charity foundation helped apply for Red Cross assistance."
Stella's eyes widened. "So he can get the operation soon?"
"Mm. And..." Jenna couldn't contain her excitement. "Ethan's colleague knows Dr. Melford."
"Liam Melford?" Stella looked blank.
"The cardiac surgery specialist at Mayo Clinic." Jenna gestured. "Online forums call him the 'Heart Whisperer.'"
Stella immediately pulled out her phone to search. Moments later, she gasped. "An expert of that caliber must have a year-long waiting list!"
"Let's wait for Red Cross approval first." Jenna waved a hand. "It's too early to celebrate."
"What about post-op care?" Stella frowned. "He'll need at least two weeks hospitalized."
"I'll take care of him." Jenna answered without hesitation.
"What about work? Anti-rejection meds aren't cheap."
Jenna bit her lip. "I'll stay for a week, then hire a nurse."
As they spoke, the club doors swung open. Gavin Valentine strode in, his tailored suit accentuating his long legs, gaze sharp as a blade.
