Chapter 165: Chapter 165

Night fell as city lights flickered to life.

Jenna Roland was pouring drinks for Gavin Valentine's group in the VIP lounge when her phone buzzed in her pocket.

She discreetly retreated to a corner and glimpsed Justin Kemnis's name on the screen.

"Excuse me, I need to take this," she murmured to Gavin before slipping out of the room.

The hallway lighting was dim as she answered. "Mr. Kemnis, my apologies. I was with clients."

Justin's warm voice came through. "No worries. I called to inform you—the donation request has been approved."

Her fingers tightened around the phone. "Really?"

"Of course." His chuckle was light. "The board admires your resilience. One million dollars—nine hundred thousand for your brother's surgery, the remaining hundred thousand as your startup fund."

Tears welled up instantly.

She bit her lip hard to stifle a sob.

"Jenna?" Justin's tone turned concerned.

"I'm here..." Her voice cracked. "Thank you... truly..."

Milo Roland's condition couldn't wait. This money was a godsend.

A brief silence followed.

"I know your uncle's family mistreated you," Justin said suddenly. "But believe me, good people still exist."

She froze. "How do you know about my family?"

"Ethan told me." His reply was matter-of-fact.

Understanding dawned.

"Send me your bank details. The transfer will be processed tomorrow."

"Yes!" She wiped her tears. "Mr. Kemnis, you must come for dinner someday. I'll cook to express my gratitude."

"Consider it done." His agreement was cheerful.

Ending the call, Jenna leaned against the wall and exhaled deeply.

Milo's medical fees were finally secured.

......

The alarm blared at dawn.

Jenna drowsily silenced it, then gasped at the bank notification flashing on her screen.

She bolted upright, rubbing her eyes.

"One million... it's really here!"

Immediately, she dialed Ethan Roscente—determined to thank him in person.

The line rang endlessly before disconnecting.

Three attempts yielded the same result.

She checked the time: 10:00 AM.

"In a meeting?" she muttered.
