Jenna Roland had just set down her wine glass when her phone screen lit up.
A crisp notification tone sounded.
A message from Chloe Blanchet popped up: "Four guests just arrived in VIP Room 306. We're short-staffed. Can you help if you're free?"
Jenna quickly replied: "On my way."
She turned to Wendy Lombardi. "Sis, some guests just arrived. I need to go assist."
Wendy nodded gently. "Go ahead. Work comes first."
After nodding to Tony Lombardi and Felix Rubinstein, Jenna hurried out of the private room.
Standing outside Room 306, she habitually knocked three times.
The moment she pushed open the door, Jenna's pupils constricted sharply.
Sophie Roscente and Vanessa Galatea sat at the center of the room.
Jenna's fingers froze instantly, her body instinctively recoiling.
"Sis?" Sophie's shocked voice exploded through the room.
All eyes snapped toward the doorway.
Vanessa's lips curled almost imperceptibly. "Isn't this Sophie's sister-in-law?"
Tracy Atlante's eyes widened. "Oh my God, she really is your sister-in-law?"
Wendy Ordelia silently lowered her head.
Jenna's ears burned crimson, her palm slick against the door handle.
She never imagined encountering Sophie in this situation.
Sophie's expression darkened instantly as she stormed toward Jenna.
"You said you weren't working!" Sophie's voice trembled. "Why did you lie to me?"
Vanessa and Tracy flanked Sophie on either side.
Jenna took a deep breath and quietly closed the door.
"I'm sorry." Jenna met Sophie's gaze directly. "I was afraid you'd look down on me if you knew."
Tears welled in Sophie's eyes. "I wouldn't care if you were sweeping streets. But this place..."
