Chapter 247: Chapter 247

Ethan Roscente leaned against his car at the entrance of Beverly Hills, his brow slightly furrowed.

"Jenna knows nothing about our family background. Are you sure those relatives won't slip up?"

Grandma Blanche patted his hand with a gentle smile.

"Don't worry. Your grandfather and I have warned them."

Grandpa Harrison added, "Only close family members are coming this time. No outsiders."

Ethan nodded, some tension easing from his shoulders.

Suddenly, Grandma Blanche grew serious. "Ethan, did you buy Jenna new clothes?"

She had noticed Jenna's faded T-shirt, worn too many times.

"I did." His tone was flat. "But she rarely wears them."

Her closet was filled with designer pieces he'd carefully selected, many still with tags attached.

Grandpa Harrison frowned. "Why?"

"She says they're too expensive for daily chores."

The elderly couple exchanged glances, momentarily speechless.

Grandma Blanche pressed, "How much did you spend?"

"A hundred thousand." He paused. "For the cheapest one."

Understanding dawned on her face. "That girl is used to frugality. Buy her something under a thousand next time."

Ethan checked his watch. "Heading back now?"

"We're visiting the Remetios." She waved him off. "Go to the office."

He turned and slid into his Maybach, the luxury sedan gliding away silently.

Soon after, a Rolls-Royce pulled up smoothly.

Just as they were about to board, a clear voice rang out behind them.

"Grandma? Grandpa? You're still here?"

Jenna Roland braked her shared bicycle by the curb.

The elderly couple startled. Grandma Blanche discreetly signaled the driver, who immediately drove off.

Jenna blinked at the empty street. "Having trouble getting a cab? Let me call you an Uber."
