Chapter 296: Chapter 296

"Jenna, you've worked so hard," Benjamin Roscente said gently.

Grace Roscente smiled warmly. "I should thank you too. That was the most delicious meal I've ever had."

Jenna nervously twisted the hem of her shirt. "Grandma Blanche, Mom, Dad—I'm part of the Roscente family now. Taking care of Grandma is my duty. Please don't stand on ceremony."

Benjamin suddenly spoke up. "Jenna, you and Ethan should come home more often."

The living room fell silent. Everyone shot Benjamin disapproving looks.

Realizing his slip, he quickly corrected himself. "I mean, now that you two have your own place, your mother and I should visit you sometime."

Jenna nodded obediently. "Of course, Dad."

Grandma Blanche chuckled, smoothing over the awkwardness. "Jenna's cooking is truly exceptional. We should all go together. I feel restless if I don't have her dishes for even one day."

"I was skeptical before, but now I'm a believer," Grace agreed.

Benjamin gazed at Jenna with fatherly affection. "Having a daughter-in-law like you is a blessing for our family. May you both live happily. It would be even better if you could give us a grandchild soon."

Jenna's cheeks flushed. They'd only been married for a month—why were they already talking about babies?

Grandma Blanche noticed her discomfort and intervened. "Let the young couple decide that for themselves. No pressure."

"It's getting late. We should go," Grace said, rising to leave. "Jenna, Ethan, we'll see ourselves out."

"Drive safely, Mom," Jenna waved with a smile.

After seeing her in-laws off, Grandma Blanche asked Ethan to drive Jenna back to the city.

Ethan walked to the parking lot without a word. Leaning against the car door, he took a drag of his cigarette before stubbing it out when Jenna approached.

As the car merged onto the highway, Ethan broke the silence. "Did you contact your uncle?"

"I was too busy this morning," Jenna admitted.

"Do it now." His tone brooked no argument as he kept his eyes on the road.

Jenna pulled out her phone and dialed Victor Roland. "Did you sell me to that fat creep? Victor, that's illegal!"

"What nonsense! I have no idea what you're talking about!" Victor's voice dripped with indignation, as if deeply wronged.

Jenna gritted her teeth. "Then why did I wake up in a hotel? You drugged me at dinner and delivered me to someone's bed, didn't you? Where's your conscience, Victor? What happened to returning my orchard? Where's the transfer contract? The keys? Did you steal those too?"
