Chapter 314: Chapter 314

Liam Melford adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, surprise flickering in his eyes. He hadn't expected Ethan Roscente to call him personally—let alone for the sake of an ordinary girl's younger brother.

If the head of HM Group was making this request, Jenna Roland must be someone special.

"Milo, get some rest tonight." Liam pushed aside his thoughts and addressed the boy in the hospital bed. "See you tomorrow."

"Okay, Dr. Melford." Milo nodded obediently.

As Liam turned to leave, he caught Jenna sitting by the bed, her eyes brimming with joy.

"Dr. Melford is a world-renowned specialist. The surgery will definitely succeed!" Jenna squeezed her brother's hand. "After you're discharged, let's visit Mom and Dad. They must be watching over you."

Milo chuckled. "Seriously? You still believe in that?"

"It's called faith." Jenna waved him off, bending to pull a basin from under the bed. "I'll get you some warm water."

The moment the water touched his feet, Milo sighed in contentment. Watching his sister's focused profile, he suddenly spoke up. "When I make it big, I'll give you the life you deserve."

"Empty promises again?" Jenna didn't even look up.

"This time I mean it!" Milo sat up straighter.

Jenna set her phone aside and met his gaze. "All I want is for you to be safe and healthy."

She didn't care about wealth. This brother, who'd been her only family since childhood, was all that mattered.

"Just wait and see!" Milo grumbled stubbornly.

By the time Jenna finished soaking her feet, Milo had already refilled the basin and placed it before her.

"Your turn."

Jenna dipped her feet in, warmth spreading from her soles to her heart. Watching her brother's busy figure, her eyes grew moist.

The most precious things in life were never riches or glory.
