Grandma Blanche studied Jenna Roland's resolute gaze and knew her mind was made up.
"How much capital are you preparing?"
"A few thousand dollars will suffice. Low risk, perfect for gaining experience."
The elderly woman gave Jenna's shoulder a gentle pat.
"Do your best. Gaining experience is what matters most."
A faint smile touched Jenna's lips.
"Thank you for your support, Grandma."
"I never said I supported you becoming a street vendor."
Grandma Blanche sighed.
"But if you wish to try, I won't stand in your way."
"Success or failure, it'll be valuable experience."
Jenna nodded.
"I want to start small, with less pressure."
"Hmm."
Another pat from Grandma Blanche.
"You wash the dishes first. I'll be in the living room."
In the living room, Ethan Roscente was discussing company matters with Grandpa Harrison.
Milo Roland had already retreated to his room, and Justin Kemnis had left right after dinner.
"Ethan, come to the balcony."
Grandma Blanche headed straight for the balcony without waiting for a response.
Ethan closed the French doors behind him and regarded the elderly woman.
"What is it?"
"Jenna plans to start street vending. Did you know?"
"No."
His brows furrowed slightly.
He'd assumed she would open a restaurant. Street vending hadn't crossed his mind.
"She just told me."
Grandma Blanche lowered her voice.
"I tried to dissuade her, but she said running a restaurant would be too stressful."
"Selling what?"
"Clothing."
She added,
"She's even buying an e-tricycle tomorrow. Seems determined."
"Let her."
Ethan's tone was indifferent.
Grandma Blanche stared at him in surprise.
"Aren't you concerned?"
"If that's what she wants."
He avoided her gaze, pulling out a cigarette case.
Exasperated, Grandma Blanche swatted his arm.
"Talking to you is exhausting!"
She yanked open the French doors and stormed off in a huff.
Leaning against the balcony railing, Ethan watched the flower beds below through wisps of smoke.
Jenna's image surfaced in his mind.
He hadn't expected her to choose street vending.
Taking one final deep drag, he stubbed out the cigarette and returned to the living room.
The spacious room stood empty now.
When Jenna emerged from the kitchen, Ethan's eyes lifted to meet hers.
"Grandma says you're starting street vending?"
