Ryan Watson's fingers trembled slightly as he took the e-bike keys. Jenna Roland felt a pang of pity watching him.
"Ride safely."
Milo Roland wolfed down his meal and grabbed his keys.
"See you later, sis!"
Jenna called after her brother's retreating figure. "Slow down!"
After washing the dishes, Jenna took a hot shower. When she stepped out, the wall clock showed 9:30 PM.
She frowned at her phone screen, hovering her finger over Ethan Roscente's contact. Finally, she lowered her hand.
"He'll just get angry if I call this late."
A familiar black profile picture suddenly caught her eye in the WhatsApp contacts. Jenna's pupils contracted, her finger freezing mid-air.
"Strange... Didn't he delete me?"
She opened the chat window and typed after some hesitation: "When are you coming back?"
Two minutes passed with no response. Jenna headed to the bedroom, completely missing the incoming call notification flashing on the sofa.
Just as she finished her skincare routine, she noticed Gavin Valentine's missed call. This reserved man never called without reason.
The moment she answered, Gavin's urgent voice came through: "Ms. Roland, why didn't you pick up?"
"I was busy. What's wrong?"
"Ethan's drunk at Studio 54! If I hadn't run into him—"
Jenna's chest tightened. "Which room?"
"VIP 888. Don't mention my call!"
"Can't you take him home?"
"My clients are still here!" Gavin hung up abruptly.
Jenna stared at the darkened screen, nails digging into her palms. Studio 54—the place she never wanted to set foot in again.
