Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of HM Group's top-floor office, bathing the space in warm radiance.
Ethan Roscente's slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk as his gaze lingered on his phone screen. He had just received a message from Jenna Roland—her test results were in.
"How did it go?" His voice was deep and tender.
Jenna's hesitant voice came through the phone. "The doctor said... I'm pregnant."
Ethan's fingers froze mid-air. His pupils dilated slightly. He stood abruptly, his suit jacket fluttering from the sudden movement.
"Are you sure?" His voice tightened.
"Yes. Both the blood test and ultrasound confirmed it." Jenna's voice was feather-light. "Six weeks along."
Ethan drew a sharp breath, his chest filling with warmth. He strode to the window, staring at the distant city skyline.
"Where are you now?" His voice betrayed urgency.
"Just left the hospital. Heading home." She paused. "Are you... okay?"
A low chuckle escaped him. "I'm fine. More than fine. Go rest. I'll wrap up here and come home soon."
"Should I prepare lunch?"
"No." His tone brooked no argument. "You're not stepping into the kitchen today. We'll go out or order in."
Jenna's soft laughter floated through the line. "Alright. Your call."
After hanging up, Ethan remained still for a moment before suddenly dialing Grandma Blanche's number.
"Grandma." Joy seeped into his words. "Jenna's pregnant."
In the Roscente family estate, the midday news played on TV. Grandma Blanche squinted at her phone. "What? Say that again?"
"Jenna's pregnant!" Ethan raised his voice. "Confirmed this morning."
Grandma Blanche slapped the armrest, startling Grandpa Harrison beside her.
"Old man! Turn off the TV!" she exclaimed. "Jenna's pregnant!"
Grandpa Harrison fumbled with the remote, disbelief etched on his face. "Already? They just got married!"
"Absolutely certain!" Grandma Blanche was already calling Grace Roscente. "Grace, come over immediately! Earth-shattering news!"
Within half an hour, Grace and Benjamin Roscente arrived at the estate. Grandma Blanche clutched her daughter's hand, beaming. "Jenna's pregnant! The Roscente family is growing!"
Grace gasped, covering her mouth. "Heavens! I must prepare tonics for her."
Benjamin patted his wife's shoulder, eyes crinkling with pride. "That boy works fast."
The Roscente estate buzzed with excitement, every face alight with happiness. Meanwhile, Ethan stood by his office window, gazing at the horizon, an unconscious smile curving his lips.
