Chapter 467: Chapter 467

Autumn deepened, bringing a biting chill. Daytime temperatures barely clung to the mid-50s Fahrenheit, plunging into the 40s after dark.

Jenna Roland had safely passed the critical first trimester of her pregnancy. Now entering the second trimester, her energy levels had noticeably improved.

Morning sunlight filtered through the bedroom curtains. After breakfast prepared by their nutritionist Nanny Dorothy, Jenna headed to the hospital with Ethan Roscente for her prenatal checkup.

At the hospital, tests proceeded smoothly. The doctor reviewed the results with a pleased smile. "The fetus is developing well. All indicators are healthy."

Relief washed over the couple. Their shared glance held quiet joy.

Ethan opened the car door for her afterward. "Any lunch preferences?"

"Hot pot!" Jenna's eyes sparkled with instant enthusiasm.

Ethan sighed. This marked at least the twentieth time she'd requested it in three months.

"Fine. But only clear broth."

"Clear broth is boring. I want spicy." Her lower lip jutted out in protest. Just imagining the bubbling red broth made her mouth water.

Their nutritionist had banned even mildly spicy foods during her pregnancy. Though Jenna had lost ten pounds, their baby thrived.

"Spice isn't good for the baby." Ethan remained firm.

"Just a little spice? Please, darling?" She tugged his sleeve, her voice melting into sweetness.

That single endearment shattered his resolve. "Alright. Hot pot it is."

"Yes!" Jenna hugged his arm, nuzzling against him like an affectionate kitten.

Ethan ruffled her hair indulgently. "Which restaurant?"

She named her favorite spot. Ethan directed their driver immediately. At 11:30 AM, they secured the last available table in the packed establishment.

Ordering, Jenna specified: "Split pot—mild on the spicy side." She selected numerous dishes before pausing. "Should we invite Stella? She lives nearby."

Remembering Stella Laurent's recent care for Jenna, Ethan agreed readily.

Stella accepted the invitation instantly upon hearing "hot pot." As the broth reached a boil and dishes arrived, Jenna eagerly slid the first slices of premium beef into the pot.
