Chapter 498: Chapter 498

"She will never be yours." Ethan Roscente's gaze was razor-sharp, his entire being radiating an aura of unyielding dominance.

Lucien Valois let out a bitter laugh. "I know I'm not worthy of her. Ethan, I love Jenna Roland deeply. If you ever dare to hurt her, I'll stake my life to make you pay."

"My woman is none of your concern," Ethan replied coldly.

Stella Laurent intervened tactfully. "Mr. Valois, your father is on the phone. He says it's urgent."

Lucien shot Ethan one last resentful glare before answering. "Dad, what is it?"

"Who was that Stella woman just now?" Vincent Valois demanded, his tone sharp.

"Jenna's friend," Lucien murmured, lowering his voice. "Ethan is here too. I just came to donate blood."

Vincent's anger subsided slightly. "Go to Boys Town orphanage. Secretary Zhang found a lead about your sister."

"Understood."

"And remember—stay away from Jenna!"

Ethan massaged his temples irritably. "Got it."

After hanging up, Lucien turned to Ethan. "Don't tell Jenna I was the blood donor."

"Why?" Ethan frowned.

"She hates me. Knowing the truth would only upset her." Lucien's smile was pained. "I don't want to add to her burdens."

Ethan fell silent for a moment before striding toward the operating room.

Three hours later, the surgical lights finally dimmed.

"The patient is out of danger," the doctor announced, wheeling out the hospital bed. "She'll need two days in the ICU for observation."

Ethan exhaled deeply, the tension in his body finally easing.

Suddenly, his expression darkened. "Where's the baby?"

Stella gasped, realizing they'd forgotten about the newborn. She rushed back to the ward in panic.

The empty bassinet made her legs buckle.

"Over here," a nurse said, appearing with the bottle-fed infant. "I brought him over since no one was attending to him."

Stella nearly burst into tears. "Thank you so much!"

Her hands trembled as she updated Ethan, then carefully cradled the contented baby.
