Jenna Roland frowned slightly. When had she ever admitted to being Ethan Roscente's friend?
They were legally married with official certificates.
Though it was a marriage of convenience, the embossed seal on their marriage license was undeniably real.
She pressed her lips together but ultimately didn't correct Gavin Valentine.
Milo Roland gave Gavin a thoughtful glance. Apparently Ethan hadn't even told his closest friend about the marriage.
Gavin's car soon pulled into Beverly Hills.
"Thank you," Jenna murmured, taking her brother's hand as they exited the vehicle.
Walking through the neighborhood, Milo suddenly remarked, "That Gavin seems like a decent guy."
"Mmm." Jenna nodded.
When they reached home, light spilling from under the bedroom door made Jenna pause. Ethan had returned early.
She tiptoed to grab her pajamas before heading to the bathroom.
The next morning, Ethan left without disturbing the sleeping siblings.
At 9:30 AM, the alarm buzzed.
Jenna rubbed her eyes and sat up. She needed to be alert today—they were hosting the elderly couple.
Soon, the aroma of rice filled the kitchen. By 10:30, all prepared ingredients were neatly arranged on the cutting board.
The braised pork knuckle simmered in the clay pot as Jenna wiped her hands and dialed her phone.
"Grandma Blanche, have you and Grandpa Harrison left yet?"
A hearty laugh came through the receiver. "Already on our way, dear. Start cooking first."
After hanging up, Jenna immediately turned on the stove.
Using both burners doubled her efficiency. Just as two dishes were plated, the doorbell rang.
Milo raced to answer it.
Jenna hurried to the foyer and saw three figures standing there.
Beside Grandma Blanche stood a white-haired gentleman with keen eyes—undoubtedly Grandpa Harrison Roscente.
The last person made Jenna blink in surprise. Ethan had returned unusually early today.
"This is Grandpa Harrison," Grandma Blanche introduced warmly.
"Hello, Grandpa." Jenna gave a slight bow.
"Nice to meet you, Grandpa Harrison." Milo offered a proper bow.
The old man's eyes crinkled with delight. "Good, good children, both of you."
Jenna ushered the guests inside before turning to her brother. "Milo, please serve tea to our grandparents."
As rich aromas wafted from the kitchen, Jenna tied on her apron and hurried back to the stove.
