Chapter 75: Chapter 75

Jenna Roland pushed the door open, and Chloe Blanchet immediately stepped aside.

Colleagues scattered to both sides, their eyes wide with shock.

That was Sophia Merouin—notoriously difficult to deal with, not to mention her special relationship with Tristan Ashcroft. How dare Jenna confront her directly?

Everyone had assumed Jenna was a pushover. No one expected such steel beneath her calm exterior.

Sophia burned with rage at the audience. She stormed to the doorway and snapped, "What are you staring at? Get lost!"

Chloe and the others didn't dare linger, quickly dispersing.

"Jenna, you're amazing!" Chloe whispered, giving her a thumbs-up. "Standing up to Sophia? I'm impressed."

Jenna crossed her arms, her gaze icy. "She started it."

She'd been sitting quietly when Sophia decided to pick a fight.

Did they really think she'd take it lying down?

"I know it was self-defense, but she'll hold a grudge," Chloe warned in a hushed tone. "She'll come after you."

Jenna settled into Booth One, her red lips curving slightly. "If I wasn't afraid to do it, I'm not afraid of the consequences."

"What if she brings backup?"

"She won't get the chance."

Chloe sank into the couch, frowning. "You shouldn't have made an enemy of her here at the club."

"Should I have just swallowed the insult?" Jenna crossed her legs. "That would only encourage her."

A realization dawned on Chloe.

Nice people get trampled.

"Just be careful," Chloe advised. "If anything happens, go straight to the boss."

Jenna rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Didn't you say she has a special relationship with him?"

"Better than staying silent."

Patrick Klein approached. "Chloe, Booth 302."

"Got it." Chloe stood and left.

......

In the break room, Sophia stewed in her anger.

She shot to her feet, determined to complain to Tristan.

But after searching the entire club, there was no sign of him.
