Chapter 152: Chapter 152

Did Evelyn Put You Up To This

A flash of panic crossed Patricia’s eyes, but it was swiftly replaced by a mask of arrogant disdain.

“You insolent, ignorant fools!” she spat out.

“I have no idea what ridiculous nonsense you’re talking about!”

Isabella chimed in, her voice rising to a sharp pitch.

“Did Evelyn send you here?” she screamed. “Let me make this clear, your actions will have severe consequences! We are the victims in this situation, understand?”

The gathered crowd saw right through their act.

They burst into a unified roar of scornful laughter and loud taunts.

“Are you both completely delusional?” a voice yelled from the mass of people. “Evelyn revealed your schemes a long time ago! And you’re still pretending to be innocent? It’s unbelievable! You have no shame!”

At that moment, Patricia’s phone began to vibrate insistently.

This time, she grabbed it immediately, a confused flicker of hope on her face.

Some small, desperate part of her wished it was Evelyn, finally calling to beg for mercy.

“Mrs. Blackwood!” her assistant’s frantic voice screeched through the receiver. “Why didn’t you answer? Something catastrophic has happened! You need to look online, right now!”

The pure terror in her assistant’s tone sent a cold shiver down Patricia’s spine. Something was terribly wrong.

She hung up abruptly and clumsily unlocked her phone. The moment the screen lit up, her world tilted on its axis. She stumbled back, nearly losing her balance.

“No… this isn’t happening,” Patricia breathed, her voice thick with stunned disbelief.

She had assumed the mob outside was Evelyn’s doing, but now she realized they were speaking the truth. The proof was right there, undeniable.

Evelyn had been playing a deep game, quietly amassing a treasure trove of incriminating evidence.

She had waited patiently for the perfect moment to deliver this final, devastating strike.

Isabella stood next to her, equally horrified. Her hands shook uncontrollably as she stared at the phone screen, the shock making her head spin.

“How… how did she get all this?” Isabella stammered, her voice quivering. “When did Evelyn gather this? I spoke to her… she even recorded our call secretly!”

Before Patricia and Isabella could even start to comprehend the magnitude of this blow, the crowd outside Serenity Oaks became even more furious.

“So the reality finally sinks in, does it? You thought you could deceive everyone? How pathetic!”

“You’re nothing but heartless monsters!” another voice shouted.

A volley of rotten eggs slammed into Patricia and Isabella, splattering across their expensive clothes and faces before they could dodge.

“Stop! Please, stop!” Patricia shrieked, her voice cracking with pure desperation.

Terrified, the two women scrambled backwards into the villa, slamming the heavy door shut to block out the rage of the mob.

With the door locked securely behind them, Patricia and Isabella finally let out shaky breaths of relief.

Without a word, they rushed to the nearest bathroom, desperate to wash off the foul-smelling mess.

Despite their vigorous scrubbing, the disgusting stench clung stubbornly to their skin and hair.

Having cleaned up as much as possible, the two women collapsed onto the plush living room sofa, utterly drained.

The angry chants from the crowd outside still penetrated the walls.

A brief silence settled between them, but then, a delayed wave of sheer terror washed over Isabella, hitting her like a physical blow.

Unable to hold back any longer, she started to sob quietly.

“What are we going to do, Patricia? Evelyn has released everything. How can we ever come back from this?”

Patricia’s expression turned to stone. She snatched her phone and dialed a paparazzo she had paid handsomely. Her voice was razor-sharp, laced with fury.

“I paid you an exorbitant amount! How could you let Evelyn publish all that damaging information? Fix this! Now! Get rid of everything Evelyn posted!”
