Chapter 221: Chapter 221

You're Truly A Devoted Husband

Evelyn remembered the promise she had made to Sebastian earlier in his car.

She had agreed to speak well of him in front of Alexander.

This small act would hopefully make Alexander more receptive to future meetings with Sebastian.

Knowing how rarely Alexander formed genuine friendships, Evelyn wanted to prevent a momentary impulse from damaging their relationship.

Alexander, however, viewed the situation differently.

He noticed Evelyn's sincere appreciation for the photograph.

This prompted him to reluctantly extend an olive branch toward Sebastian.

After agreeing to keep the photograph, Alexander issued a stern warning. "This is a one-time exception. Do not take photos without permission again."

Evelyn gently patted Alexander's shoulder. "Please, don't be so harsh."

Alexander paused, seeming ready to defend himself. "I wasn't being harsh. Just stating a necessary reminder."

Sebastian observed the exchange with quiet amazement.

He realized seeking Evelyn's help had been the correct decision.

The change in Alexander's attitude was both immediate and remarkable.

It made him wonder—had he ever noticed how skilled Alexander was at modulating his emotions?

Simultaneously, Sebastian felt a sense of shock.

Alexander, usually so decisive and unyielding, was now heeding a woman's advice.

Was this a testament to Evelyn's influence or Alexander's newfound adaptability?

Evelyn laughed softly, brushing some dust from Alexander's jacket.

Alexander raised his hand to stop her. "It's dirty. Don't touch it."

"Then go change quickly. I'll have the staff clean the kitchen," Evelyn said, turning to find the maids.

Alexander moved toward Sebastian. "What did you want to discuss?"

Sebastian adopted a serious tone. "It's an important matter."

Alexander seemed unimpressed. "I need to change first, then have dinner with Evelyn. She's been on her feet all day and hasn't eaten properly. I've already inconvenienced her enough..."

As Alexander continued to elaborate on his concern for Evelyn, Sebastian interrupted. "Alright, I understand. You care about your wife. No need for further explanation. This is truly urgent. Let's go to the study."

Evelyn, having just finished speaking with the maids, heard Sebastian's plea and glanced at Alexander.

To her surprise, Alexander immediately refused. "I'm busy. Come back another time."

Evelyn quickly intervened. "Alexander, please go to the study and speak with Mr. Hayes. I'll manage things here with the staff."

She approached him, leaned down, and whispered softly near his ear. "Mr. Hayes is your friend and our guest. Remember your manners."

Alexander's expression darkened with a frown. He seemed poised to argue, but the firm look in Evelyn's eyes stopped him.

He paused, then offered her a conciliatory smile and gently took her hand.

"Alright, I understand. Don't overexert yourself. Let the staff handle everything and ensure they prepare something you'll enjoy," Alexander conceded.

Evelyn nodded in agreement and gestured for Alexander's assistant to come forward and push his wheelchair.

After changing clothes, Alexander joined Sebastian in the study.

The moment the door closed, Alexander noticed Sebastian giving him a peculiar look.

Alexander scowled. "What's with that expression?"

Sebastian shook his head, sat on the sofa, and let out a heavy sigh. "How did I not see it before? You're truly a devoted husband. It seems you follow your wife's suggestions without any resistance."
