Your Friend Is Quite The Narcissist
Sebastian glanced back at Evelyn.
He had urgent business to handle and couldn't afford to delay by sharing a meal with the couple.
Considering Alexander's possessive nature, he decided it was wiser not to stay.
A playful grin spread across Sebastian's face. "Honestly, it's better if I don't. I'm far too irresistible. If I linger, you might find yourself captivated. Alexander is a dear friend, and I'd hate to create an uncomfortable situation."
With that, he made a swift exit, leaving Evelyn sitting on the sofa, completely stunned.
Alexander wheeled into the room and noticed Evelyn's bewildered expression. "Is everything alright?" he asked.
Evelyn offered a faint smile. "Your friend has an incredibly high opinion of himself. I completely misjudged his character."
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Pay him no mind."
"Alright, let's eat. I'm absolutely starving." Evelyn stood up and helped guide Alexander's wheelchair to the dining table.
They enjoyed their meal together, sharing light conversation and laughter throughout.
Evelyn arrived at the office exactly on time the following morning.
To her great surprise, Cassandra was already there, waiting much earlier than expected.
"Cassandra, what are you doing here so early?" Evelyn inquired.
Cassandra responded with a radiant smile. "You told me last night the gown was finished. I was so excited I could barely sleep. Please, can we go see it now? I simply can't wait another moment."
"Of course." Evelyn agreed. After setting down her things, she escorted Cassandra to the studio where the dress was stored.
As they reached the display cabinet, Evelyn unlocked it and carefully removed the mannequin inside.
"Be careful with it," Cassandra advised softly from behind her.
Unseen by Evelyn, a sly expression flickered across Cassandra's face.
Evelyn then gently lifted the protective cloth, fully revealing the completed gown to Cassandra.
Cassandra examined it with sheer delight, her face lighting up. "Oh, Evelyn! It's absolutely breathtaking!"
Just then, Nathanial entered and saw the dress Evelyn had created. He nodded in approval. "Truly remarkable. Evelyn continues to impress Beatrice, proving once again what an exceptionally talented designer she is."
Cassandra turned to Evelyn with a satisfied smile. "I'm so incredibly glad I chose to work with you."
Evelyn blushed slightly. "Cassandra, would you like to try it on now?"
"Absolutely, please help me," Cassandra agreed.
Together, they carefully lifted the dress from the mannequin and moved to the nearby fitting room.
Once Cassandra was wearing the gown, she admired her reflection in the mirror.
Evelyn stood behind her, making minor adjustments.
"How does it feel? Are you happy with it?" Evelyn asked. "If anything needs altering, I can fix it immediately."
Cassandra touched the fabric at her waist. "The waist feels a little tight. Could you let it out just a bit? I may have indulged a little too much since coming back home."
Evelyn nodded. "Of course, I'll loosen it slightly for you."
Cassandra suggested a few other minor changes.
"When the day of the red carpet arrives, I'll wear this dress and take plenty of photos for promotion online," Cassandra beamed. "We must connect on Twitter then."
"Okay." Evelyn nodded in agreement.
