Alexander chuckled softly, shaking his head.
"I've been stuck inside for too long."
"It's just a short drive to your office. It's nothing."
"What's important is getting to spend a little more time with you."
His voice was warm, his eyes sincere.
Evelyn felt her resistance crumbling.
Her initial refusal faded before she could even grasp it.
After a brief hesitation, she sighed in defeat.
"Alright, fine. You win."
Seeing her finally agree, Alexander's mood brightened.
He flashed her a triumphant smile and got into the car after her.
Soon, they reached the entrance of Aethelgard Industries.
"You can drop me off here," Evelyn said to the driver.
She then turned to Alexander. "You should head back now."
Alexander nodded casually.
He reached out and gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Okay," he said softly. "Call me when you finish work. I'll be here waiting for you."
Wait, was he planning to pick her up too?
Evelyn paused.
She didn't want to inconvenience him.
But she also didn't want to spoil his good mood.
Deciding not to dwell on it, she simply smiled.
"Alright."
With that, she got out of the car and walked towards the building.
She had only taken a few steps when she suddenly remembered something.
She immediately turned and jogged back to the car.
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Forget something?"
Evelyn didn't answer.
Instead, she leaned through the open window and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
"Almost forgot your morning kiss!" she said with a playful grin.
Then she dashed off without looking back.
The driver, who had been watching silently, couldn't help but marvel.
This couple's affection seemed to grow deeper every day.
Alexander sat still for a moment.
His fingertips gently brushed the spot where Evelyn had kissed him.
A small, contented smile touched his lips.
His eyes followed her retreating figure until she disappeared inside the building.
Only then did he reluctantly look away.
"Let's go," he instructed the driver.
Just as the driver was about to start the car, a sudden knock on the window interrupted them.
Alexander frowned slightly and rolled down the window.
He found himself looking at a familiar face.
Sebastian Hayes stood outside the car.
"What are you doing here?" Alexander asked, his tone even.
Sebastian blinked. "Isn't there a virtual meeting with the Sterling Group executives today? It's pretty obvious why I'm here."
Alexander paused briefly, then remembered the important morning meeting.
Maintaining his composure, he replied smoothly. "Right. That's why I'm here."
"Huh? That's odd," Sebastian said, glancing at his watch. "The meeting isn't until ten. Why are you here so early?"
Alexander certainly wasn't going to admit he'd just dropped Evelyn off.
If Sebastian found out, he'd never hear the end of it.
Besides, Alexander still remembered that Sebastian had once shown interest in Evelyn.
Even though it was in the past, he had no desire to discuss her with him.
His possessiveness towards Evelyn only seemed to intensify over time.
Keeping a straight face, he answered calmly. "I wanted to get a head start on some paperwork that's been piling up."
Without giving Sebastian a chance to question further, he gestured to the backseat.
He instructed the driver, "Unlock the door. He's riding with us."
