Chapter 461: Chapter 461

The doctor's words echoed in the quiet room. "Congratulations. You're pregnant. According to the test results, you are approximately five weeks along."

Evelyn's mind went completely blank.

Pregnant. The doctor had just confirmed she was pregnant.

She drew a slow, steadying breath. "Doctor," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "Is it certain? Am I really pregnant?"

The doctor offered a firm, reassuring nod. "Yes, the results are definitive. You are undoubtedly expecting."

A wave of pure joy washed over Evelyn, and a brilliant smile illuminated her face.

Five weeks. That meant conception likely happened right after her last period.

It explained the missed cycle. It explained the relentless fatigue and the sudden nausea.

She was going to be a mother.

The full weight of the miracle settled upon her. Tears of happiness pooled in Evelyn's eyes.

Her hand drifted instinctively to her abdomen. Her touch was feather-light, a protective caress over the precious life growing within.

A soft, incredulous laugh escaped her. The baby was no bigger than a pea right now. She couldn't possibly feel anything yet.

The doctor smiled warmly at her evident happiness, but then his expression grew more serious. "However, there is another matter noted in your test results that we need to discuss."

Evelyn's elation vanished instantly, replaced by a cold spike of fear. "What's the problem, Doctor?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Was something wrong with the baby?

A torrent of worries flooded her mind as she waited for the doctor to continue.

She had been so careful lately, avoiding anything that could be harmful. The pregnancy should be perfect. The mere thought that her deeply wanted baby might be in jeopardy made her heart clench painfully.

She couldn't bear to consider the potential complications....

The doctor saw the panic on Evelyn's face and quickly sought to comfort her.

"Please, don't be alarmed. Your baby is perfectly healthy, and you are too," he reassured her. "However, we have observed that your uterine lining is somewhat thinner than ideal. This condition, should you ever consider terminating the pregnancy, could complicate future attempts to conceive."

Evelyn shook her head vehemently. "Termination is not an option. My husband and I have been hoping for this baby."

A frown creased her brow. "But my uterine lining was normal in previous check-ups. What caused this change?"

The doctor explained calmly, "Factors like significant stress or hormonal shifts can cause thinning. It's not overly concerning. With adequate rest and careful monitoring, it should improve."

Relief flooded through Evelyn, and she released a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"Thank you, doctor," she said, her gratitude sincere.

After the appointment, she carefully placed the prenatal vitamins the doctor had given her into her bag. She walked out of the examination room with deliberate, measured steps.

Now aware of the life inside her, she moved with extra caution, avoiding any rush that could lead to a misstep. Finding a quiet bench, she sat down to collect herself. A serene smile touched her lips as she gently rested a hand on her stomach once more.

She then retrieved her phone, scrolled through her contacts, and found Alexander's name.

With the pregnancy confirmed, she wondered if she should share the news with him right away.

Knowing he would be just as thrilled as she was, her finger hovered over the call button. She contemplated the perfect way to tell him.
