“A disturbance?” Isabella gestured sharply toward the front desk. “I made a reservation. Now you’re refusing to honor it. Who is really causing the disturbance here?”
The tension was thick.
The hotel’s revolving door turned.
A man stepped through.
He wore a bespoke dark gray suit.
His features were sharp. Deep-set eyes. A strong jaw. An air of detached authority.
It was Ethan.
The hotel manager noticed him immediately. He rushed over, his expression obsequious. “Mr. Blackwood! My deepest apologies for this… unpleasantness. I will handle it at once.”
He shot a venomous look at Isabella. He snapped his fingers at the staff behind him.
“Don’t just stand there! Remove her!”
Two staff members moved. They grabbed Isabella’s arms. They began to pull her toward the exit.
“Let go of me!” She struggled fiercely. Their grip was too strong.
Ethan’s brow furrowed. His gaze narrowed on Isabella.
“What are you doing here?”
His voice made her freeze. She stopped struggling. She hadn’t expected to see him.
The manager answered for her. He pointed at Isabella, his tone dripping with false respect.
“My apologies, Mr. Blackwood. This woman is causing a scene. She demands a room. But you have booked the entire hotel. I have explained this. She refuses to listen. She is disrupting our operations.”
Ethan’s eyes flicked between Isabella and the manager. His expression was unreadable.
“Do you know this woman, Mr. Blackwood?” the manager asked cautiously.
Ethan fixed him with an icy stare. His voice was calm. Deadly. “She is my wife.”
“Your… wife?” The manager’s voice cracked. His arrogance vanished. Shock and terror took its place.
He never imagined the ‘troublemaker’ was Mrs. Blackwood.
His legs gave out. He collapsed to the floor. Cold sweat soaked his shirt.
He had made a catastrophic error.
“M-Mrs. Blackwood! I am so sorry! I didn’t know… I had no idea…” he stammered, trembling.
Isabella’s expression remained cold. Unforgiving.
“Release her! Now!” the manager shrieked at the staff. “You idiots! How could you not recognize Mrs. Blackwood!”
The staff instantly let go. They hung their heads in fear.
The manager wiped his forehead. He bowed deeply before Isabella.
“Please, Mrs. Blackwood. Forgive me. I was a fool. I didn’t recognize you. Please, be merciful.”
Isabella said nothing. She just watched him.
Seconds ticked by. The manager grew more frantic. He turned his pleas to Ethan.
