Chapter 126: Chapter 127

Amy Sinclair studied Victoria Langley with an icy, calculating stare.

Victoria plastered on her most angelic expression. "Liam is in critical condition, and you're treating the boy who hurt him like family? Isn't that going too far?"

Amy responded evenly, "That boy didn't harm Liam. Besides, it was Oliver who saved his life just now."

A sardonic smile touched Amy's lips. "Funny—you're the one who rallied a crowd to stop me. If Liam hadn't made it, his blood would have been on your hands."

Victoria's face stiffened momentarily before she quickly averted her gaze, feigning sorrow. "I saw that man was a doctor and assumed he'd be more qualified. I just didn’t want to waste any time getting Liam treated, so I held you back, Ms. Sinclair."

Tears shimmered in her eyes as she turned to Alexander. "Alex, I'm so sorry. I nearly put Liam in danger."

Alexander replied coolly, "It's not your fault. You were only trying to help."

Amy scoffed internally. Of course, Alexander would defend Victoria. He had been right there, standing beside her, obstructing Amy at every turn. Protecting Victoria was just another way of absolving himself.

Turning away, Amy focused on Liam, who had finally stabilized. A lingering tremor of fear still coursed through her.

This was the emergency medication Theodore Whitmore had prepared for Liam—a last-resort remedy. Thank God she had brought it with her, or else...

A sudden realization struck her. She turned to Alexander. "He always carries his emergency inhaler. Today, when I checked, it was missing. Did you throw it away?"

Alexander frowned slightly. "No, Liam usually changes his own clothes. Eleanor handles the laundry. Maybe she removed it by accident."

Amy shook her head. "That’s impossible. I’ve discussed this with Eleanor countless times. She knows better than to make such a basic mistake."

A flicker of guilt passed over Victoria’s face, vanishing before Alexander could notice.

"Maybe Liam misplaced it?" he suggested.

Amy rubbed her temples, exhaustion weighing on her. "I’ve reminded him a thousand times—his life depends on that medication. He wouldn’t just forget or discard it... Never mind. We’ll ask him when he wakes up."

Since Victoria had returned, Liam’s relationship with her had deteriorated. After she stopped visiting, it had hit rock bottom.

Maybe this was his way of rebelling—tossing the inhaler aside in defiance.

Amy turned back to them, her voice sharp. "How did he have an allergic reaction?"

Alexander’s frown deepened as he glanced at Victoria. "What happened?"

Victoria’s eyes darted nervously. "I... I don’t know."

Amy fixed her with a glare that could shatter glass. "You’re the one who gave Liam nuts."

It wasn’t a question. The certainty in her tone left no room for doubt—she already knew. Liam was only allergic to nuts.

Even though Alexander barely spent time caring for Liam, he knew about the allergy.

He looked at Amy, skepticism in his gaze. "I checked everything Victoria ordered. There weren’t any nuts. Are you sure you’re not mistaken?"

A bitter amusement flickered in Amy’s eyes. No matter the situation, if Victoria was involved, Alexander would defend her without question.

Even if his own son had nearly died because of her negligence.

Meanwhile, for every minor issue, Alexander was always quick to doubt Amy.

Oliver’s voice cut through the tension. "But Amy and I just ordered a nut cake."
