Amy didn't push him. She could see the wheels turning in Alexander's mind.
He'd bought Victoria a mansion without hesitation. What was a billion dollars compared to saving Nathan and curing Victoria's illness?
The silence stretched between them until Alexander finally spoke in that icy tone of his. "Fine."
Amy gave a small nod, her expression unreadable. "Then I assume you'll need to prepare new divorce papers, Mr. Blackwood."
His dark eyes studied her carefully. "You don't seem surprised by my answer. Almost as if you expected this outcome."
She met his gaze evenly, a ghost of a smile playing on her lips. "You've always prioritized Mr. Prescott and Ms. Langley. With terms this clear-cut, refusal was never an option."
Alexander said nothing, simply reaching for his phone to summon Gregory.
Thirty minutes later, Gregory entered with a stack of documents. "Everything you requested, sir."
"Give them to her," Alexander commanded without looking up.
Gregory handed the papers to Amy. The divorce settlement and mutual agreement were straightforward.
The divorce terms were simple - Liam would remain with the Blackwoods, and Alexander would pay Amy one billion dollars in compensation.
The mutual agreement was equally clear - Amy's side would drop all charges against Nathan Prescott.
Amy signed both documents without hesitation.
She slid the divorce papers across the table. "Your signature, Mr. Blackwood."
Alexander took the pen, scrawling his name with sharp, angry strokes.
"After the holidays, we'll finalize this at city hall," Amy stated. "Any objections?"
"None," came the clipped reply.
Amy tucked away the mutual agreement. "I'll keep this until the divorce is official."
Alexander's eyes flashed dangerously. "What exactly are you suggesting, Amy?"
"Given your track record of broken promises, I prefer to have insurance. The document stays with me until everything is settled."
Her voice remained calm. "Mr. Prescott is out on bail. A few days' delay won't change anything."
"You have my word, Mr. Blackwood. I don't go back on my agreements."
The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees. Gregory discreetly wiped his palms on his trousers.
Alexander Blackwood was known for keeping his word - to everyone except his wife. With her, promises seemed to dissolve like morning mist.
His expression darkened further. "If this is some trick, not even Sebastian Kingsley could shield you from the consequences."
Amy secured the signed divorce papers in her bag. "I wouldn't make demands I couldn't fulfill."
"However, while I can convince Dr. Whitmore to treat Victoria, she must honor her commitment to stay here for the full week as agreed."
Alexander's gaze turned predatory. "And if your doctor changes his mind after she arrives?"
"You have my assurance," Amy replied smoothly. "Dr. Whitmore has given his word. As long as Ms. Langley cooperates, he won't renege. Though..."
