"This morning's conversation revealed she's privy to details even I wasn't aware of." Dominic's piercing gaze intensified. "Perhaps she's realized clinging to that billion isn't sustainable. Donating it could be her calculated move to elevate her public image."
He took a deliberate sip of tea. "Nathan's scheme was amateurish at best. Glaring loopholes everywhere."
Dominic leaned forward. "We've misjudged Amy. She's far from the defenseless victim we imagined."
Had Alexander or Dominic orchestrated this, the execution would've been flawless. But Alexander disdained such underhanded tactics, and Dominic abhorred causing harm. Neither had participated in this fiasco.
Alexander's stormy eyes darkened like midnight waters. "She's clever, I'll concede that. But..."
Dominic studied his friend's rigid posture. "But what?"
Alexander's voice dropped an octave. "She's been anticipating Nathan's every move—as if she's reading his mind. No matter how brilliant, she can't possibly predict the future."
The implication hung heavy between them. Dominic's eyes widened. "You think she's getting inside information?"
Alexander's silence confirmed his suspicions.
Dominic's fingers tightened around his teacup. "If true, the only possible sources are Nathan or... Victoria, correct?"
Alexander's jaw clenched. "Impossible."
Dominic swirled his tea thoughtfully. "The pattern is undeniable. Someone's feeding her intelligence. While I doubt Victoria would betray us intentionally..." He hesitated, watching Alexander's reaction. "Perhaps she let something slip accidentally. Or maybe her conscience compelled her to warn Amy about Nathan's excesses."
A sudden realization made Dominic pause. "This vendetta between Nathan and Amy—it makes no sense. Why is he so obsessed with destroying her?"
Alexander's expression remained unreadable. "It stems from Victoria. Nathan's holding some misguided grudge."
Dominic shook his head. "That explanation falls short. You're already divorced. If it were truly about Victoria, why continue harassing Amy?"
Alexander's gaze sharpened. "Speak plainly."
Dominic exhaled heavily. "We've been brothers since childhood. What I'm about to say comes from that bond." He met Alexander's eyes squarely. "Don't you find Nathan's involvement in your marriage... excessive? He pushed relentlessly for your divorce. Yet Amy remains Liam's mother. Regardless of past conflicts, this ongoing warfare benefits no one."
Alexander's knuckles whitened around his glass.
Dominic pressed on carefully. "Consider this—if Nathan truly cared about Victoria's happiness, wouldn't he want you married to maintain distance? His obsession with Amy suggests... other motives."
A muscle twitched in Alexander's jaw.
Dominic's final question hung between them like a guillotine. "Answer honestly—without Nathan's interference, would you have ever divorced Amy?"
