Victoria's expression faltered for just a moment before she recovered with a practiced, warm smile. "Absolutely not. Liam has always been an honest boy—he wouldn't lie."
She glanced down at Liam, her gaze softening with affection.
"So, Ms. Sinclair, I hope you'll trust him a little more in the future."
With effortless grace, Victoria redirected the conversation back to Amy.
Liam, who had been drowning in conflicting emotions toward Victoria, suddenly felt a wave of relief at her words.
After facing Amy's cold indifference, Victoria's kindness was like sunlight breaking through storm clouds. His eyes welled up as he rushed into her arms.
His voice trembled with hurt. "Victoria, that awful kid was bullying me."
Victoria stroked his hair, her tone soothing. Winning over a child like Liam was effortless for her—she barely had to try.
She turned to Amy. "Ms. Sinclair, even though you and Alexander are divorced, Liam is still your son. That will never change. I hope you can show him a little more care."
With Victoria beside him, Liam stood a little taller, his confidence renewed.
He looked up at her. "Victoria, why are you here?"
Victoria's smile brightened. "Your father mentioned your kindergarten is hosting another parent-child event soon—a multilingual performance, isn't it?"
Liam nodded, but his shoulders slumped. "I asked Aunt Charlotte to help, but she said she isn’t good with other languages."
Children like Liam, raised in elite circles, were fluent in multiple languages from an early age.
At the prestigious Royal Oaks Academy, even admission required rigorous testing. Nearly every student spoke at least one additional language.
Liam was fluent in three: English, French, and Spanish.
Of these, his Spanish was the strongest, second only to his native English.
Unfortunately, Charlotte Blackwood didn’t speak Spanish.
His father, Alexander, did—but as the CEO of Blackwood Enterprises, there was no chance he’d attend a kindergarten performance.
Victoria smiled. "Well, I happen to be quite proficient in Spanish. If Ms. Sinclair can’t participate, I’d be happy to step in."
At the mention of Amy, Liam suddenly remembered his mother.
A woman who hadn’t even finished high school—he doubted she knew anything beyond basic English, let alone something as complex as Spanish.
"Mom can’t help—she doesn’t know any foreign languages," Liam said, clinging to Victoria’s arm with admiration. "Victoria, you really speak Spanish?"
Victoria’s smile was serene. "I’m fluent in five languages, and Spanish is one of my best."
The way she emphasized fluent and best suggested she likely knew even more—just not as well.
"That’s incredible!" Liam’s eyes sparkled. "I’m the top language student in my class. With you, Victoria, we’ll definitely win first place again!"
Before Victoria could respond, Oliver’s voice piped up, full of mischief. "What do you mean again? Liam, how many times have you and Ms. Langley actually won first place?"
