Chapter 434: Chapter 439

Sebastian's gaze was intense, unwavering. "Alexander has been out of his mind with worry," he said, his voice low. "He wouldn't stop talking about you last night—kept saying he wished he could be here himself."

He placed his glass on the bedside table with deliberate care. "I was already on leave, no urgent business to attend to, so I offered to stay with you for a while."

Amy's throat still burned, but the water helped. She swallowed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Mr. Kingsley, thank you. And... for last night as well."

Sebastian dismissed her gratitude with a casual wave. "You've thanked me more than enough. I lost track of how many times you said it yesterday."

Amy hesitated, her brows knitting together. "I'm sorry—my head was a mess. I don't remember much clearly."

Sebastian held her gaze, his tone firm yet gentle. "Celeste, you don't always have to be so strong. Alexander and I—we both want to help you. And you don't owe us anything. We're not strangers."

His dark eyes were fathomless, pulling her in, as if they could see straight through her defenses.

Amy's breath hitched. She looked away, unable to withstand the weight of his stare.

Just then, the door swung open.

"Mr. Kingsley, I brought breakfast—"

Samantha froze mid-sentence when she saw Amy awake. Relief flooded her expression.

"Amy! You're up!" she exclaimed, rushing to the bedside. She pressed a hand to Amy's forehead before exhaling in relief. "Thank goodness. We caught it in time."

She handed over a bag with breakfast for Amy as well.

The three of them ate together in comfortable silence. Afterward, Amy managed to convince Sebastian to go home and rest.

Once he was gone, Amy turned to Samantha. "Any news about Benjamin?"

"Everything's on track. We should have answers by the day after tomorrow at the latest." Samantha hesitated, then lowered her voice. "By the way... have you heard anything from Dominic?"

Amy shook her head. "No. Alexander isn't like Nathan—he can't keep secrets. Maybe he hasn't mentioned anything at all."

Samantha leaned in. "Should I ask Dominic to look into it for us?"

Amy considered it for a moment before nodding. "Yes, please."

"Alright, I'll see what I can find out."

Benjamin's recent troubles, combined with Samantha's close call yesterday, felt too coincidental. Amy couldn't shake the suspicion that something was off. Even if it meant calling in a favor, she needed answers.

She dialed Dominic's number directly. He picked up after two rings.

"Celes," his voice was warm, steady. "What's on your mind?"

Amy quickly explained the situation. "I need your help. Can you find out if Alexander is behind this, and if there's more coming?"

"Of course," Dominic agreed without hesitation. "I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything."

Amy felt a rush of gratitude. "Thank you, Dominic."

His voice softened. "No need for thanks between us."

She knew Dominic was sharp—he wouldn't confront Alexander recklessly. He'd wait for the right moment, something subtle.

To her surprise, Dominic called back the very next afternoon.

"Amy, are you free tonight?"

Her pulse quickened—he must have found something. "Yes, I'm free."

Dominic chuckled. "Let's meet at our usual spot."
