Chapter 69: Chapter 70

"Amy!" Nathan's eyes blazed with fury, his voice echoing through the sterile hospital corridor, thick with rage and accusation.

"Enough," Alexander cut in, his expression glacial, his piercing blue eyes like shards of ice.

At Alexander's tone, Nathan's anger flickered out like a candle in the wind, his bravado dissolving instantly.

For the past five years, Nathan had never spared Amy a kind word—only sarcasm and disdain. And Alexander? He either watched in silence or took Nathan's side, fueling Nathan's arrogance.

Now, under Alexander's cold stare, Nathan faltered. "Alex, this woman pushed Victoria down the stairs. We can't just ignore that."

Amy let out a quiet, humorless laugh. "Mr. Prescott, you weren't even there. How exactly did you witness me pushing her?"

"We're not children. Words have consequences. Slander is a punishable offense."

Nathan stiffened, caught off guard by Amy's sharp retort. Lately, she had become dangerously quick-witted, leaving him speechless every time.

Then, Liam—who had been silent until now—spoke up. "I saw it."

All eyes turned to him.

He pointed at Amy, his voice steady. "I saw her do it."

Nathan's face lit up with smug triumph. "See, Alex? Even your son is saying it was her."

Alexander's gaze, cold and detached, settled on Amy. "Why would you do something like that?"

Amy smiled. "If you don’t know why, how should I?"

Nathan scoffed. "Isn’t it obvious? You're jealous of Victoria. You can't stand seeing her happy."

Amy arched a brow. "Jealous? Didn’t she claim she and Alexander were just friends? Pure as snow?"

"If that's true, why would I be jealous?"

Nathan floundered. "Well—because you can't handle their past—"

Amy's smile didn’t waver. "Why should I care? Because Alexander treats her too well? Because he's still hung up on his first love? Or maybe because they’re in some ambiguous relationship—"

"Amy." Alexander's voice was sharp, cutting her off. "Control your jealousy. Do you really want to say such reckless things in front of Liam?"

She nearly laughed. So now he’s using Liam against me again?

In the past, she would have swallowed her pride, biting her tongue to avoid arguing in front of Liam. But now, seeing father and son standing united against her, she realized how foolish her past restraint had been.

She tilted her head. "You and Victoria flaunt your little games in broad daylight without shame, yet I'm the one who should be afraid?"

Alexander’s expression darkened further. "Amy!"

"What? Does the truth sting?" she countered coolly. "I won’t even bring up everything you’ve done for Victoria in the past. Just today—"

"Would you dare post those photos and videos of the three of you at the family event online? Let the world judge?"

Her lips curved. "I bet not only will you not post them, but you’ll lock down every single image from today. Not a single one will leak."

Alexander’s jaw tightened, but before he could respond, the light above the operating room flickered out.
