Chapter 318: Chapter 318

The operating room doors swung open.

A pale woman was wheeled out on a gurney. She looked completely drained.

Her injuries weren't life-threatening.

But when Nancy Levine turned toward Cora Bennett, her breath caught in her throat. It felt like a physical blow.

Clara Bennett had been a maid at Levine Manor years ago. Both Nancy and Clara had been pregnant at the same time.

After Clara gave birth, she insisted on returning to her hometown with her baby girl. She left the Levines' employment shortly after.

'No. This can't be happening.' Nancy's face lost all color.

She refused to believe something so absurd could happen to her. The daughter she had raised for over two decades couldn't possibly not be hers. Yet Elizabeth's blood type...

Nancy rushed to a nearby doctor. "What is this patient's blood type?" she demanded.

"Type A," he answered.

Another punch to the gut.

And that face... it looked almost identical to Elizabeth's.

Nancy's mind went blank. She stared at Cora, her body trembling. Her vision started to blur.

Clara moved quickly to wheel Cora away. Nancy grabbed her arm.

"Don't you dare leave," Nancy hissed.

"Please, Ms. Levine. My daughter needs to get to her ward—"

"Are you certain she's your daughter?!" Nancy's voice echoed sharply through the corridor.

Clara immediately looked away. Her fearful reaction only confirmed Nancy's growing suspicion.

Nancy then spun toward Ivan, who stood frozen.

"Ivan! What is going on here? Speak!" she yelled, her voice bordering on hysterical. "What is your connection to Clara? Who is Elizabeth's real mother?!"

As Nancy's frantic shouts filled the hallway, Ethan Parker began to understand the situation.

More people were filing into the corridor now—employees from Levine Holdings with Type AB blood.

William Levine arrived urgently. "We have ten donors. That should be enough. How is Elizabeth?"

Nancy's eyes welled up. Tears began to fall when she saw William.

"Aunt Nancy."

William's voice grew hoarse. Her reaction was genuinely frightening him.

The emergency room doors burst open again. A nurse called out urgently, "Are the Type AB donors here? The patient requires an immediate transfusion!"

William gestured for his employees to step forward. Suddenly, Nancy moved to block them.

"No!" she shrieked. "No one saves Elizabeth York until I get answers!"

"Aunt Nancy? What's...?"

William was intelligent, but his aunt's behavior was baffling him completely.

"Ivan York!"

Nancy glared at Ivan again. He remained silent, as he had for some time.

Finally, Clara broke down. She rushed to Nancy, sobbing. "Yes... Cora is your daughter, not Elizabeth. I was the one who switched them all those years ago!"

A deathly silence fell over the corridor.

Hearing the confirmation, Nancy felt the world spin. She nearly collapsed from the shock.

"Aunt Nancy!" William quickly caught her, supporting her weight.

Ivan stood nearby, utterly petrified.

He never imagined a mistake from his past would resurface like this. All those years ago, he had paid Clara a substantial sum to leave with their child.

After so much time had passed, he believed the past was buried forever. He never expected it to explode into the present so suddenly.
