Elizabeth's life hung in the balance.
William pivoted sharply, his eyes locking onto Ethan as he moved silently toward the medical staff.
The realization struck him—Ethan had the matching AB blood type.
Across the corridor, Clara was collapsing into hysterical sobs on the cold floor.
"Ms. Levine, I'm on my knees begging you," she pleaded desperately. "Save my daughter! Take your revenge on me instead! Do whatever you want with me!"
She never imagined her momentary recklessness would bring her child to death's door.
If Elizabeth didn't survive this...
Clara refused to let the thought form. Yet despite her tearful begging, Nancy walked right past her as if she were invisible.
Nancy approached Cora, who lay pale and speechless on the gurney.
"Place her in your finest private suite," Nancy commanded the medical team with icy authority. "No visitors without my direct authorization."
They recognized her instantly and hurried to comply.
Turning to William, Nancy's voice softened with calculated warmth. "We're family, William. Blood binds us together. I know you would never betray that bond."
Her meaning was crystal clear—he must not intervene to save Elizabeth.
"Family loyalty comes first," Nancy continued, her gaze shifting to Ivan with barely concealed murderous intent. "Everyone else..."
Her eyes narrowed. "...is disposable."
With that final declaration, Nancy escorted Cora's gurney down the hallway and disappeared.
The corridor fell into heavy silence.
"Mr. Levine..." Clara began, redirecting her pleas toward William.
He ignored her completely, his cold stare fixed on Ivan.
Ivan swallowed hard.
What explanation could he possibly offer? The situation was beyond repair, and he lacked the power to save his daughter.
"Uncle Ivan, you brought this upon yourself," William stated coldly. "Whatever happens to Elizabeth is your responsibility to bear."
He turned to leave, his employees falling into step behind him.
Clara scrambled forward, clutching at William's leg. "Please, Mr. Levine! You're her only hope! I'm begging you!"
William kicked her away without hesitation.
"Regret comes too late for actions already taken," he said, walking away without a backward glance.
"No! Please!" Clara cried out, collapsing completely.
Left alone on the floor, she rocked back and forth in despair. "This is all my fault... My poor Elizabeth shouldn't be suffering for my mistakes..."
