Chapter 65: Chapter 65

Inside the bridal shop, Ethan and Lydia were trying on wedding attire.

A sales associate approached them with a warm smile, holding several delicate veils.

"You two look amazing together! I've been here for years and seen a lot of couples, but it's rareto see a pair as perfect as you. I'm sure you'll be happy together forever."

Lydia's face turned pale instantly. She glared at the associate, her previously gentle voice now sharp and raised.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Who gave you the right to say such things?"

The associate, startled by the sudden outburst, froze with a confused look on her face.

Lydia wasn't done. She turned and shouted across the store,"Where's your manager? Fire this person immediately! What kind of service is this? If you can't speak properly, don't speak at all!"

Other staff members exchanged uneasy glances, and the atmosphere grew tense and awkward.

Ethan frowned and quickly grabbed Lydia's arm, trying to calm her down."Lydia, don't be upset. She meant well."

Lydia herself didn't understand why she was so angry. It felt as if the associate was mocking her, implying she was Ethan's mistress rather than his fiancée.

Hearing Ethan's words. Lydia regained some composure.

To maintain her image in front of Ethan, she forced a faint smile."Sorry,I guess I'm just a bit nervous about the wedding."

"Let's continue trying on the dresses," Ethan said, taking her arm and leading her back to the fitting room.

The associate, still shaken,followed them.

As Lydia entered the fitting room, Ethan received a call from Wendy.

On the other end, Wendy's voice was as cold as ice. "Ethan, the divorce ruling is today. Be at the courthouse in an hour with your documents.Don't be late."

Ethan's face showed signs of irritation. "I'm busy right now."

Before he could finish, Wendy cut him off. "Ethan, no one will wait for you forever. If you've decided to divorce,'stop draggingit out."

She continued,"Planning a wedding with someone else while delaying the divorce doesn't make you look noble; it just seems pointless."

Wendy was tired of Lydia's petty tricks and the endless, inexplicable connection with Ethan.

She had always been decisive. When she loved someone, she gave it her all. When it was time to leave, she did so without hesitation.

She didn't delude herself into thinking Ethan still cared for her, which was why he was reluctant to finalize the divorce.

After all, in his eyes, her value might be less than that of the family chauffeur.

Ethan gripped his phone, his expression darkening.

He thought of her interactions with Alexander, and anger began to rise within him.

"Wendy, you're just saying this because you have a new target, so you're eager to leave."

Wendy thought Ethan was being ridiculous.

She responded coolly, "Think what you want. But this has nothing to do with you. After all, you move on faster than anyone."

"I'll be waiting at the courthouse. If you're late, even if you beg, I won't agree to the divorce."

She didn't give Ethan a chance to respond and hung up.

Listening to the diaI tone, Ethan felt a pang of emptiness.

He looked around, noticing the curious stares from everyone in the bridal shop.

He abruptly stood up, walked to the fitting room, said a few words to Lydia, and then strode out of the store.

Half an hour later.

Wendy stood idly at the courthouse entrance, receiving a message from Alexander: [You still haven't sent me the group photo from that day.]

"Group photo?" Wendy thought for a moment and remembered the pictures they took on the mountaintop.

Wendy:[Okay, I'll send it now.]

She found the photo of the four of them in her gallery and sent it to him.

Alexander sent another message: [There's another one.]

Wendy was puzzled.[What?]

Alexander: [The one of just the two of us.]

Wendy suddenly felt her face heat up.

She hesitated for a moment before replying: [That photo was taken with Susan's phone. I'll ask her to send it to me, and then I'll forward it to you.]

He replied instantly: [Okay, I'll wait.]

Just-as Wendy was about to message Susan, Ethan appeared in front of her.giving her a cold look. "Let's go."

Wendy put her phone in her bag and followed him inside.

It wasn't until she held the divorce decree in her hands that Wendy felt a weight lift off her shoulders.

From this moment on, she was truly free from Ethan, the man she had loved for so many years, to whom she had given all her emotions and youth.

From now on, she was just Wendy.

The sun bathed the street in light, the trees were lush, and she was free.

As they left the courthouse, Ethan called out to Wendy, his gaze complex."Wendy, don't get involved with another man out of spite. Take care of yourself."

Wendy's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Mr. Collins, is there anyone more shameless than you?"

With that, she kicked Ethan in the back of the knee.

The force seemed moderate, but Ethan doubled over in pain, sweat beading on his forehead.

Ethan looked up, gritting his teeth. and glared at Wendy. "Wendy, you're crazy!"

Wendy smiled slightly. "After all these years of being a doormat for the Collins family, isn't it fair for me to vent a little now that we're apart?"

She turned and walked away.

Despite her slender and delicate frame, Wendy had astonishing strength.

Ethan, wincing in pain, got into his car.

The driver in the passenger seat asked worriedly, "Mr. Collins, are you okay?"

"Nothing." Ethan closed his eyes, massaging his injured knee. "Drive."

Wendy shared the divorce decree in the group chat.

Jessica was the first to respond: [Congrats, Wendy! You're finally free from that cheating Ethan.]

Susan added:|Congrats! Now you have a whole new world to explore. A new bar just opened up. Let's go find some excitement.]
