Chapter 21: Chapter 21

After a long silence, Amelia forced a smile. "I've got more important things to handle. Don't worry, once I sort everything out, I won't delay."

The important thing was meeting Victor.

The next day, after finishing work, Amelia was about to grab a taxi to the Spencer Mansion when she ran into Lucius outside the restaurant.

Coincidentally, he was also heading to the Spencer Mansion and offered her a ride.

Amelia felt she couldn't refuse his kind offer, so she hopped into his car.

"You seemed to be in a low mood lately. Did something happen?" Lucius asked suddenly while they were waiting at the traffic light.

His profile looked gentle, but for some reason, Amelia always felt she couldn't see through him. He was very mysterious.

"Just some trivial life stuff." She averted her gaze, looking out the car window. They were already close to the Spencer Mansion.

Lucius pondered for a moment and then said, "Chris has no sense of boundaries and can be thoughtless sometimes. If he bullies you again, just let me know."

Amelia didn't dare to anger Chris, nor did she dare to anger Lucius.

"No need to trouble Mr. Howard. Chris and I will part ways soon," she said.

Lucius didn't seem surprised, just nodded lightly. "If you need help, tell me."

Amelia couldn't respond.

Lucius then continued, "Amelia, I don't make promiseslightly."

The implication was that he was serious.

"I will," Amelia was slightly moved.

Soon they arrived outside the Spencer Mansion.

Amelia suggested they get out of the car one after the other to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.

So after Lucius went inside, she got out of the car and walked in.

Unexpectedly, she suddenly heard clapping behind her.

"Impressive, in just a few days, you're already coming back with the Spencer family's stepson." Chris's words were as harsh as ever.

Amelia knew she couldn't avoid it, so she simply looked over, facing Chris's mocking eyes.

She pressed her lips together and said, "Yes, when I meet someone better,I must seize the opportunity."

Chris's face turned dark, his tall and slender figure approaching step by step. "What about the lover from yesterday? Can you handle two men?"

Amelia's eyes turned cold. "That's none of your business, Mr. Spencer."

"Amelia, how long are you going to be this bitch? Selling yourself to me wasn't enough; how many more times do you want to sell yourself?" Chris's voice was exceptionally cold.

Amelia's back trembled with fear. She had to bite her teeth hard, just looking at him quietly. "I said, it's none of your business. We have nothing to do with each other anymore."

"I shouldn't have shown you mercy on our wedding day!" Chris was completely enraged, grabbing her shoulder. With a slight force, she was in so much pain that her expression changed dramatically.

"Let go of me!" Amelia felt a sharp pain in her shoulder, her voice struggling to come out from deep in her throat."You bastard!"

"I'm a bastard, then what is Lucius? He knows we're not divorced yet,but he's still eager to be with the woman I dumped?" Chris grabbed her collar, pulling her in front of him.

In the moment their eyes met, what flashed in his mind was her words from yesterday,"In my heart, you're no longer my husband."

Then who was her husband in her heart? Lucius, or Shawn?

"Interesting?" Amelia's body and heart both ached, and tears welled up in her eyes. She tried to escape, but it was pointless, so she gave up.

Seeing her tear-streaked face, Chris felt an unexpected pang in his heart. He subconsciously let go of her.

"You cry so miserably; others might think I bullied you again," he said impatiently, then walked ahead.

Amelia coughed several times, wiped her tears, and turned to walk in the other direction.

Chris abruptly turned his head, expecting to see Amelia follow him, but instead caught sight of her taking a different path into the estate, her

silhouette resolute and unyielding. It was as if her countless declarations of leaving him had finally become reality.

He inexplicably moved his hand, wanting to grab something, but caught nothing. He could only watch her walk farther and faster. At that moment, his heart felt even more stifled.

Amelia, led by a servant, entered the Spencer family's banquet hall.

The unbearable memories from the past surged like a tide, making her tense and anxious. But it didn't matter, this should be the last time.

"Isn't this Chris's wife? Why are you so late?" A young woman in a white bodycon dress walked over. "It's rare to see you here. We thought you would never set foot here again. What a surprise."

Amelia recognized this woman; her name was Stella Spencer, the youngest daughter of Chris's uncle. She was in her early twenties and still attending university. Her appearancê inherited the distinctive features of the Spencer family, rendering her both beautiful and strikingly formidable.

Stella, like the other members of the Spencer family who saw Amelia as an object of ridicule, treated her as a servant to be toyed with and despised.

In the past, Amelia would have avoided such situations immediately. She couldn't afford to provoke Stella, nor her parents.

"Move," Amelia's voice was indifferent. "I'mn here to see Grandpa."

Her voice was calm and unyielding, making Stella freeze for a second.

"You're here to see Grandpa? Don't you know today is the monthly family dinner he set? Dressed so poorly, is this your attitude towards Grandpa?"Stella sneered, looking Amelia up and down. "It seems that after leaving

Chris, your life isn't going well. Have you finally come to your senses and want to reconcile with Chris? You're so low."

"All because of you." Amelia looked at her coldly.

Stella frowned. "What does this have to do with me?"

"Exactly." Amelia sneered. "What does it have to do with you?"

With that, she turned to leave.

"You..." Stella's face darkened with anger, and she immediately tripped Amelia.

Unexpectedly, Amelia stomped hard on her instep; Stella cried out in pain.

"Amelia, are you insane?!" Her voice was loud and piercing.

Amelia raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, I didn't falI for your trick."

Stella cursed, "You bitch!" >

"Stella!" Una Roberts scolded softly from a distance. "Let her go."

Stella's face turned red with anger. "Mom, this bitch ruined my carefully chosen stockings. I must teach her a lesson today!"

Una coldly said, "Your grandpa is coming out soon. Shut up for now;we'll deal with this later."

"Mom, even if Grandpa comes out, I'm in the right. That bitch bullied me;

I can't just let her off easily, can I?" Stella was very dissatisfied.

"Then what do you want?" Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded.
