Chris glanced at Amelia, who was drunk and leaning against him, a flicker of something in his deep eyes.
But he snapped, "If you can't handle your booze, why do you drink? Are you nuts?"
Amelia immediately pulled away from him. Even though her head was spinning, she'd rather grab the sofa for support than lean on him again.
'I just scolded her once and she got all upset. How touchy,' Chris thought with a sneer.
He reached to take the glass of wine from in front of Amelia, but just then,Nolan stumbled over.
"Come on, Amelia, one last glass, I swear this is the final one. You've had a blast today. Once we finish this, we're outta here!"
Chris's expression darkéned as he shot a cold look at Nolan. But the already drunk Nolan didn't notice and kept urging Amelia to drink the last glass.
Amelia's mind was foggy, and the voices seemed distant. But in her drunken state, all she heard was "drink."
She quickly grabbed the glass and downed another shot of strong liquor. The burning sensation seared down her throat, making her already fragile stomach worse. In seconds, she went from feeling nauseous to actually throwing up. And she puked all over Chris.
The whole room fell into an awkward silence, again.
Even Chris took a moment to realize there was a stain on his thigh, reeking of alcohol. His borderline OCD made him wrinkle his brow, barely containing his anger.
"Amelia!" He gave her a shove, only to see her collapse instantly. Her hands, which had been gripping the sofa tightly, now slackened, causing her to fall sideways.
"Chris, chill out. I mean, don't do anything crazy. Killing is illegal; we're all law-abiding citizens," Nolan cautiously advised him.
The others didn't have such guts; all they could do was try to get out of this tense situation as quickly as possible.
When Amelia woke up again, Chris and his friends were gone.
She was in an unfamiliar hotel, the bed was clean, and she was wearing a new dress. But her whole body was sore and weak, which she thought was a hangover from the alcohol.
She felt like something must have happened last night, but she couldn't recall. Until she stood in front of the mirror and saw the hickeys all over her neck, extending down to her collarbone. Fragmented passionate scenes from last night flashed in her mind instantly.
She blushed with shame and anger. Chris, that jerk, how was she supposed to go out now?
Meanwvhile,in Chris's office.
"Mr. Spencer, Ms. Ross is here," assistant Ryder reminded him. "She says she has something urgent to discuss with you."
Chris didIn't respond; he quietly stared at the documents on thetable, not
moving for a long time.
Ryder was a bit taken aback,as he couldn't recall a time when Chris had ever been lost in thought.
"Mr. Spencer, Mr. Spencer?" Ryder called softly a few times.
Chris suddenly snapped out of it.
All morning. his mind had been filled with images of Amelia's wet blue eyes and sweet red lips.
Unlike the last time, this time, due to the influence of alcohol, Amelia was unusually cooperative, her melodious and enticing moans escaping her lips. Her sexy body had an alluring glow, making it impossible for him to stop. The feeling from last night was so wonderful that even now, he couldn't calm down. After coming back to his senses, Chris cleared his throat twice."What did you just say?"
Ryder repeated his words.
Chris said, "Let her in."
Moments later, Leila appeared before him. This usually glamorous woman now looked particularly disheveled, her chin and shoulders slumped.
As soon as she saw Chris, she pitifully said, "Chris, I finally got to see you.You have no idea how unlucky I've been lately. All those endorsements you got for me have been taken away, and even the production of my new song release has been ddelayed."
Chris didn't even glance at her. He knew exactly why. He stepped out just to keep Leila too busy to bother him. "In light of the fact that you saved me once before, I can help you this time. But if you provoke Lucius again.
you're on your own," Chris said indifferently.
Leila was stunned. "Lucius? What do you mean?"
Chris glanced at her. Did she still not know why her career was struggling?Being this dumb, no wonder she couldn't become famous no matter how many resources she asked for.
"But I've never offended Lucius Howard." Leila suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
She remembered that time at Luacius's birthday party when she had someone ruin Amelia's dress, almost causing her to be humiliated in public.
In an instant, all the truth became clear.
Indeed, if Amelia had been humiliated at that time, it would have affected Sapphire and, indirectly, tarnished Lucius's reputation as well.
"Now you understand?" Chris said with a cold smile. "If you can't afford to offend someone, stay away from them. Don't do stupid things, and don't provoke Amelia again."
Instantly, jealousy and hatred filled Leila's eyes.
Leila thought,'Why was that bitch Amelia everywhere, and why didn't she just die!
Leila softened her voice, full of hope. "Chris, you promised to marry me before. Now that you're divoreing Amelia, when will we go register our marriage?"
Chris frowned, feeling an undeniable sense of repulsion he could no longer ignore. Was he resisting divorcing Amelia?
Chris said, "Grandpa won't agree."
Mentioning Victor, Leila forced a smile. "But this time, it's Amelia insisting on the divorce. I went to see her last time, trying to persuade her to reconcile with you and not upset you anymore, but she insisted on the divorce."
She raised her phone and played a recording of Amelia's words from that day in the private room. "Fine, if you can convince Chris to go to City Hall,of course, I'll be willing to leave him." The cold voice echoed clearly in the office, and Chris's face darkened, his eyes filled with a hint of anger.
