Following his words. Chris took a couple of steps back, but his eyes were still icy cold.
Amelia was barely hhanging on. The heat from her body was fading fast, and the cold was creeping into her heart and lungs.
"Help." she whispered,looking at Chris.
Their eyes met, and she saw the rage in his eyes.
"Yeah, that's it." Ace sneered. He was losing it, the thriIl of making a strong opponent submit was too much, something he had never felt before.
"Keep begging for help. I want to see how much he can take," he laughed so hard his whole body shook. But then, Amelia collapsed.
She had lost too much blood and couldn't stand anymore.
Ace was terrified, staring at Amelia on the ground. His face went pale, and his mind went blank, with only one thought: Run, run now!
But the next second, Chris punched him, sending him flying.
The pain hit him hard, and he fell, half of his face numb, teeth flying out.
His head was buzzing, and before he could recover, a sharp pain pierced his shoulder.
"Go to hell!" Chris raised the knife, and the dagger that had hurt Amelia was now deep in Ace's shoulder, piercing straight through.
Then, he quickly got up, took off his coat, tore a few strips of cloth, and wrapped them around Amelia's bleeding arm.
Only then did he notice the wounds on her back.
"Amelia, wake up!" His voice trembled. and his heart was filled with fear.
Her injuries were too severe, he didn't dare to move her himself and immediately called for an ambulance. În the meantime,he held her.pressing on her wound.
'Amelia, you have to be okay.' His usually strong heart was now trembling like a leaf in the wind.
"Sir, please let go of her!" After a while, someone shouted, asking him to release his hold.
Chris finally came to his senses and said, "Her arm and back were stabbed with a dagger about seven inches long, she lost consciousness due to severe blood loss, she needs a blood transfusion immediately."
The nurse quickly lifted Amelia onto the stretcher, and Chris followed.watching as Amelia was hooked up to an oxygen tank. Only then did he realize his legs were weak.
He kept thinking, why didn't he get there sooner? If he had arrived just a few minutes earlier, she wouldn't have been hurt so badly.
At the hospital, he was the only one waiting outside Amelia's operating room.
It took two hours before she was pushed out of the emergency room. By then, her complexion had improved a bit, but she stillhadn't woken up.
Chris stayed by her bedside, staying awake all night.
The next morning, Lucius and the others arrived.
"What happened, how did she get so seriously injured?" Victor took one look at Amelia's pale face and broke down, his voice choked with sobs.
Lucius's face was even grimmer. "Why didn't you tell me immediately when she got hurt?" He questioned.
Chris sat there quietly, motionless, as if he was the only one left in the world.
"Speak." Lucius, used to be calm and composed, now showed his true emotions, angrily grabbing Chris by the collar, his voice icy, "What happened?"
He hadn't had time to dig into it yet.
"Why should I explain to you?" Chris's face was a blank slate.
"She's my girlfriend." Lucius gritted his teeth, "Chris, you crossed the line!"
"Oh really? Then where were you when she was almost stabbed to death?I know your game, you want to use her to get to me, dream on." Chris shot a cold glareat Lucius, his whole body radiating hostility.
"You..."
"Stop, Bella's awake," Victor scolded in a low voice.
Amelia was indeed awake, but she had no strength left. Just opening her eyes had drained her.
"Bella, how do you feel? Should I get the doctor?" Victor asked gently.
Amelia managed a weak smile, wanting to say she was fine, but her throat was parched.
The words she wanted to say turned into a single word, "Water."
"Water, did you hear that? Get some water!" Victor ordered urgently.
Chris suddenly stood up. but Victor pushed him back down, giving him a silent glare.
Lucius quickly brought a cup of water, but Amelia couldn't move, so he used a small spoon to feed her bit by bit.
A look of gratitude and guilt flashedin Amelia's eyes.
It was all because she had let her guard down.
"It's okay, just rest and you'll get better soon," Lucius smiled.
For someone who rarely smiled, his smile was actually quite warm.
The two of them didn't say much, nor did they make any extra movements,
but there was an invisible bond, filled with gentle affection.
Chris watched this scene, feeling both irritated and angry. The negative emotions pressed down on him, almost driving him mad.
"Chris, you should go rest," Victor said, "Look at you, you're completely worn out."
Chris stood up,glanced at the half-dead Amelia on the bed, and snorted."I saved her, and I get no thanks?"
Amelia struggled to turn her head to look at him, "Thank you,Mr. Chris Spencer."
She was so badly injured that even saying a few words made her break out in a cold sweat.
"Alright, don't talk anymore," Lucius said, holding her hand tenderly, then turned to Chris. "Chris. I apologize for my earlier attitude, you saved Bella.I should thank you."
"Save it." Chris sneered, "T've never seen someone thank another on behalf of the person who was saved, I don't need it."
He then looked coldly at Amelia, "Remember, you owe me your life."
Four years ago, he had said the same thing.
Amelia's heart tightened, and a heavy emotion spread through her heart.
The news of her incident quickly spread, almost overshadowing the false statements Nina had been spreading.
Now,many people were linking her mysterious background to this violent incident, making all sorts of speculations and posting them online.
In no time. Amelia's Instagram gained tens of thousands of followers.
"Stop looking at your phone," Lucius came over and took her phone away,"I'll handle those things for you, your job now is to recover, don't think about anything else."
It had been three days, and Amelia could barely sit up, but her body was still weak, she couldn't get out of bed, nor was she allowed to.
"Where's Ace?"She asked.
Lucius's eyes darkened, "He's in jail, and he'll be sentenced."
