Chapter 141: Chapter 141

Tristan Ashcroft crossed his arms, his sharp gaze fixed on Jenna Roland. "Did you get a good look at who was following you?"

Jenna shook her head. "It was too dark. I couldn't see their face."

"I'll look into it," Tristan said grimly. "Be careful. If it happens again, call me immediately."

"But they were in a car. Will your people get there in time?"

"Just stall them," Tristan explained. "Call me with your location. My team will handle the rest."

Jenna nodded.

Tristan pulled out his phone and dialed Sophia Merouin without hesitation.

The call connected quickly.

"Sophia, did you send someone to follow Jenna?" Tristan's voice was ice-cold.

Jenna's heart skipped a beat.

She hadn't expected Tristan to confront Sophia directly. They'd already had a falling out—Sophia had quit long ago.

"Jenna told you?" Sophia's voice dripped with venomous hatred.

"Answer the question," Tristan demanded, his tone even colder.

Sophia scoffed. "Go ahead and call the police. What can you do without proof?"

"So it was you."

Suddenly, Sophia shifted tactics. "You care about her that much? Do you like her?"

Tristan ended the call abruptly.

"It's Sophia," he said, turning back to Jenna.

The police had traced the license plate to Byron Valdemar—Sophia's boyfriend.

After a moment of silence, Jenna decided to come clean.

"Boss, there's something you need to know."

"Speak."

"When Sophia was with you, she was already dating Byron Valdemar. He owns an auto repair shop." Jenna met Tristan's eyes steadily. "The car that followed me belongs to him."

"What?!"

Tristan froze as if struck by lightning.

Jenna repeated herself.

Tristan's temples throbbed with rage. He remembered all the money he'd given Sophia—now he realized it had all gone straight into Byron's pockets!

That damn woman!

She'd been using his money to fund her affair?

Furious, Tristan dialed Sophia's number again.
