Chapter 142: Chapter 142

The phone rang abruptly.

Sophia had just picked up a piece of salmon with her chopsticks when she saw the caller ID. The utensils clattered onto the table.

"Tristan Ashcroft?" She hesitated before answering.

"Sophia, you bitch!" Tristan's furious roar exploded through the receiver. "Is Byron your boyfriend? How fucking dare you lie to me?"

Her fingers turned ice-cold.

Instinctively, she glanced at Byron sitting across from her. He was calmly cutting his steak.

"I..." Her throat tightened.

Byron noticed her discomfort. "Who is it?" he asked.

The private dining room was eerily silent. Tristan clearly heard the male voice.

Sophia fumbled to end the call.

"It's over..." Her face paled. "Tristan knows about us."

Byron leisurely lit a cigarette.

Through the haze of smoke, he narrowed his eyes. "So what? What are you afraid of?"

She clenched the napkin in her fist.

The thought of Tristan's connections sent chills down her spine.

"You don't understand him..." Her voice trembled. "If he finds out we've been deceiving him all this time..."

Byron scoffed and flicked the ash from his cigarette.

"What can he do to you now?" He exhaled a smoke ring. "Remember, you're not working at his club anymore."

......

Outside Studio 54.

Jenna Roland took one look at Tristan's livid expression and her stomach dropped.

"Boss..." she ventured cautiously.

The veins on Tristan's hand bulged as he gripped his phone.

"That man was Byron Valdemar," he spat through gritted teeth. "I heard his voice."

Jenna stayed silent.

She watched as Tristan dialed another number.

"Zachary, find Sophia's address," Tristan's voice was glacial. "And dig up everything on that Byron Valdemar. I want every detail."

After hanging up, he turned to Jenna.

"Stay alert," he warned. "If you notice anyone following you, contact me immediately."

Jenna nodded vigorously. "Understood, boss."

A cold night breeze swept past, making her shiver involuntarily.
