After Milo was discharged from the hospital, Jenna prepared a family feast to thank everyone.
Milo had recovered quickly. By the time he left the hospital, he looked no different than before the surgery. The doctor only reminded him to continue taking anti-rejection medication.
The successful operation was largely due to Ethan and Justin's help. Jenna decided to cook a special meal for them.
Once Milo was settled at home, Jenna called both men. Justin agreed without hesitation, while Ethan was even more eager—he hadn't tasted Jenna's cooking in two weeks.
After hanging up, Jenna grabbed a shopping bag and headed to the nearby market. Remembering how Grandma Blanche and Grandpa Harrison had visited Milo often, she called to invite them too.
Grandma Blanche happily accepted.
In the kitchen, Jenna tied on her apron and got to work. Amid the clatter of cooking, the doorbell rang.
"Milo, can you get that?" Jenna called without looking up.
Milo set down the remote and hurried to the door. A stranger stood outside.
"Hello, may I ask who you are?"
"Justin Kemnis." The man smiled. "Your sister invited me for dinner."
Milo's eyes lit up. This was the man who had helped arrange his hospital stay! He stepped aside. "Please come in, Mr. Kemnis."
Justin glanced around the living room. "Ethan isn't here yet?"
"Mr. Roscente will come after work." Milo handed him a glass of water. "Here, have some water."
Justin took the glass and pulled out a cigarette case. "Mind if I smoke?"
"Not at all." Milo smiled.
As smoke curled through the air, Justin asked, "Your sister's in the kitchen?"
"Yeah, she's cooking dinner." Just then, the sound of a key turning came from the entrance.
Both turned toward the foyer.
Ethan walked in, his black trench coat carrying the chill from outside. He frowned, his gaze landing on the cigarette in Justin's hand.
