"Ethan, I swear I never took Oliver to see Jenna." Yvonne's grip on the phone turned her knuckles white. "Oliver isn't your child. Jenna is lying! After all these years, don't you know what kind of person I am?"
Ethan's laugh was cold, his chiseled features sharp with disdain. "Who should I believe? My wife, or an outsider?" His voice dropped lower. "If I catch you harassing Jenna again, don't expect mercy."
The call ended. Yvonne's hands trembled. Kyle took one look at her pale face and knew the outcome.
"He guards Jenna like she's his most precious treasure now." Yvonne tossed the phone onto the coffee table, her eyes icy. "If I approach her again, he'll destroy me."
Kyle lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply. "You need Ethan." He exhaled smoke. "Only he can cover your father's debt."
Yvonne knew. Her carefully laid trap had been meant for Ethan. But she hadn't anticipated his swift betrayal—or Jenna's interference. Now Ethan avoided her like the plague. That door was closed.
Her father's loan had ballooned from sixty million to over two hundred million. The lenders gave her six months. After that, they'd come for her and her son.
She could endure anything—but not harm to her child.
Yvonne snatched Kyle's cigarette and took two sharp drags. "It's over. Ethan won't trust me again."
"Then make him." Kyle crushed the cigarette. "No one else has that kind of money."
"Where's Dad?"
"Took Oliver to the amusement park." She rubbed her temples in frustration.
Kyle leaned in. "There is another way." When she looked up, he waved dismissively. "Never mind. You'd never agree."
"Tell me!" She seized his wrist. "As long as it's legal, I'll try anything."
"I know a club manager. Her girls make six figures monthly—"
"Kyle!" Yvonne hurled a cushion at him. "You want me to sell myself? Are you human?"
He blocked it. "See? I knew you'd refuse."
"Pathetic! You'd push me into hell just to save yourself!" Her entire body shook with rage.
Oliver's real name was Oliver Cortez—her son with Kyle from their time abroad. Back then, Kyle had been a charming executive pursuing her. She'd thought it was love. Now look where they were.
