"Never." Ethan's denial was absolute. "She was my first girlfriend, but I never laid a finger on her."
"My God, seriously?" Jenna's eyes widened.
She never imagined Ethan and Yvonne had remained chaste during their relationship.
"Every word is true."
"How shameless of her." Jenna scoffed. "Using someone else's child to threaten me into divorce? Ethan, were you blind back then?"
She didn't hold back her frustration in front of him.
Ethan remained composed. His heart belonged only to Jenna now—not to his first love, nor even to an ex-wife.
"I don't understand why she'd do this."
"Isn't it obvious?" Jenna rolled her eyes. "She wants to break us up so she can have you."
"No matter her motives, I won't waver. You'll always be my only wife."
The words warmed Jenna's heart.
She blinked playfully. "Better keep your word, or I'll post about you online and let the internet drag you."
Ethan chuckled. "Silly, I'm about to be a father. Why would I lie?"
"Nonsense. The baby's still in my belly."
"Six more months, and they'll be here. Same difference."
"Humph! If she bothers you again and you dare hesitate, I'll make our child call someone else 'Daddy'!"
"You wouldn't dare!" Ethan's expression darkened instantly.
"Try me if you betray me!"
He massaged his temples. Why was she always so insecure?
But he understood. Orphaned young and mistreated by her uncle's family, Jenna's guardedness was inevitable.
"I swear I'll never hurt you."
"Got it. Just teasing. Get back to work." Jenna hung up abruptly.
Ethan's gaze turned glacial. He pulled up a blocked number and dialed.
When the call connected, his voice was arctic. "Yvonne Sherwood, whoever you are—harass Jenna again, and I won't care about our past."
"I never contacted Jenna! Ethan, you've got it wrong!" A wounded voice protested.
His eyes hardened further. "Yvonne, you're passing off another man's child as mine. Did I ever so much as touch you?"
