Chapter 181: Chapter 181

Evelyn's mind raced, searching for any possible way to fix the situation.

Alexander's confession echoed in her ears. He had been a virgin.

Who could have imagined his first time would be so strange and confusing?

The guilt inside her grew heavier, and a worried frown appeared on her face.

Seeing her distress, Alexander let out a soft laugh.

"It's fine, Evelyn," he said after a moment. "I'm not angry. Just kiss me, and we'll consider the matter settled."

Evelyn stared at him, shocked. "What? Really? It's that easy?"

Alexander took her slightly cold hand in his. His voice was deep and steady. "Evelyn, we are married. What happened between us is normal. Did you truly believe I would reject you over this?"

Evelyn thought about it and realized he was right.

A smile spread across her face, bringing a wave of warmth.

"I'm glad you're not mad," she whispered.

Alexander shook his head. "I'm not."

Evelyn looked at his handsome features. Still wrapped in the blanket, she leaned forward and pressed her lips gently against his.

The contact was so brief Alexander hardly felt it. He frowned slightly. "That wasn't exactly what I meant," he said. Evelyn looked confused. "You said one kiss was enough."

Alexander chuckled, his eyes sparkling. "I didn't mean a quick peck."

His eyes dropped to her mouth again.

A shiver ran down Evelyn's spine. Heat bloomed where his gaze lingered.

She bit her lip, her cheeks turning pink.

Seeing her shyness, Alexander teased her. "You were so brave last night," he said playfully. "Why are you so timid now?"

Evelyn's face flushed crimson. A mix of embarrassment and irritation stirred within her. She felt he was mocking her.

"Don't you dare look down on me!" she retorted.

With newfound determination in her eyes, Evelyn leaned in and captured his lips once more.

Alexander's breath caught. Just as he started to respond, she pulled away.

To make it worse, she playfully nipped his lower lip. It wasn't hard, but it left him craving more.

Alexander gasped dramatically, pretending to be hurt. "Ouch! Is this your revenge?"

"Don't be silly," Evelyn shot back, trying to sound composed. "I'm just... a bit rusty, that's all."

Alexander stayed silent, his intense gaze locking with hers, sending shivers through her.

"Right, we should get up now," Evelyn stammered, feeling flustered.

She grabbed her pajamas from the nightstand, put them on quickly, and hurried to the bathroom.

Alexander watched her escape, a faint smile touching his lips.

After washing up, Evelyn deliberately avoided the walk-in closet where Alexander was dressing and rushed downstairs.

The memory of his intense stare made her heart race wildly.

There was something about Alexander, an innate authority that surrounded him, as if he was accustomed to command.

If she didn't know about his disability and his difficult position in the Blackwood family, she could easily believe he was a man of immense power.

Evelyn paused, a playful thought crossing her mind. Maybe this was what it felt like to be truly infatuated.

She was falling for Alexander, so of course she saw him through rose-colored glasses.

Alexander came downstairs a short while later.

"Oh my goodness, Mr. Blackwood!" one of the maids exclaimed. "What happened to your lip?"
