Chapter 56: Chapter 56

After the man stepped out of the car, Ella remained motionless, staring at the business card clutched tightly in her hand.

"You must be absolutely delighted, right?" The driver chuckled warmly, glancing through the rearview mirror at Ella.

Ella's eyes curved into crescent moons, as if cradling a priceless treasure in her palms, before she relayed an address to the driver.

She never expected this twist of good fortune amidst everything else.

"You've completely broken things off with Austin?"

Sarah sprang up from the couch at Ella's words.

After Ella explained everything that had happened, Sarah looked utterly incredulous.

"Austin chose Judith over you and didn't even care about your baby?"Sarah exhaled a long, weary sigh upon finishing her words. Her frustration ignited a fierce urge to seek answers from Austin.

Observing her ire, Ella, utterly drained, sank onto the sofa and replied with a muted tone, "For the next few days. I'll stay at your place temporarily before venturing out to find a new home."

Perhaps comforted by Sarah's presence. Ella leaned her head gently against Sarah's shoulder and murmured, "Thank you for always standing by my side and supporting me."

"Don't you need money?" Sarah asked with concern. "The Alpha project l8in a precarious state right now. Ella... Though I don't have much. I've

managed to save a little over the years. I'll go get my private savings right now."

Moved by sympathy for her plight, Sarah rose to retrieve the money from her bedroom.

Ella grasped her wrist, silently shaking her head.

She understood Sarah's modest position as an ordinary employee in a large corporation, with little room to accumulate savings amid the high living costs of a bustling city. Those funds might be needed someday for illness or family emergencies.

Yet Sarah firmly clasped her hand in return and said earnestly, "Ella, you are my dearest friend. If you need financial help, I must do whatever I can.Besides. I do have a job now. You can pay me back when your project flourishes. I'm confident you will sponsor me someday!"

Hearing this, Ella's eyes welled with tears. She gazed at Sarah, biting her lip to hold back her sobs. "I despise sentimentality the most, Sarah, but you know, I swear, I wilI amass a fortune one day!"

Sarah embraced her tenderly and whispered, "Even if you never make that fortune, I will always be your best friend. I just feel heartbroken seeing you suffer because of that despicable man. Ella, you deserve happiness. All this misery is because of Austin, that scoundrel!"

With a bittersweet smile through her tears, Ella replied, "I will not let my baby's death be in vain. I will avenge her. And you've already made me feel like the happlest girl in the world."

Sarah's heart ached with emotion, and she wiped her eyes, saying, "Alright.I'll go get you the money."

As Sarah went into the bedroom. Ella's thoughts swelled wwith profound gratitude: true friendship reveals itself in adversity; those who genuinely care will never mock youa in your darkest hours.

Sarah was her truest friend, and she vowed silently to earn great wealth to repay her kindness.

A fierce resolve ignited within Ella. She wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, steadying her breath with unwavering determination.

She dared not relent or relax, not until the very end, refusing to bow or admit defeat like Austin. No one would ever bring her down.

Sarah returned, clutching a thick wad of cash. "I'm afraid to deposit this in the bank. This is some cash, plus a card with about thirty to forty thousand dollars, altogether roughly a hundred thousand. Ella, this is all I have." She set the money on the table and looked at Ella with solemn sincerity.

Words of thanks escaped Ella; they felt hollow and insufficient.

"Ella, you needn't say anything. Just take this money and dedicate yourself to your work. Rise above it all. Make those who looked down on you regret their past deeds!"

Let them all drown in remorse.

Ella was overwhelmed with gratitude, unable to find adequate words of thanks. She stood and bowed deeply to Sarah.

Sarah was startled. "Ella, please don't do that."

"Sarah, I don't know how I could ever repay your kindness." Ella fixed Anna with a solemn gaze.

Sarah lowered her eyelids and offered a faint, graceful smile.

"We're closer than sisters. You don't even need to pay this back." She said.noticing Ella's grateful expression. "Come on, Ella. Let's not talk about this anymore. Get some good sleep tonight."

"Okay."

Austin was working late in the office when his secretary, noticing he had yet to leave, ventured cautiously, "Mr. Raymond, it's already quite late.

You should consider resting."

He lowered his head to peruse documents, offering no response.

The secretary placed a divorce agreement beside his hand. "Mr. Raymond.this divorce agreement was deliberately sent to the company. They urge you to sign it promptly and proceed to finalize the divorce."

The pen in Austin's hand hovered motionless. He lifted his gaze toward the document emblazoned with the bold title "Divorce Agreement," a glint of icy disdain flickering in his eyes.

"What sort of ploy is this? Do they think such a gesture will make me show leniency toward the Alpha project?"

The secretary cleared her throat softly, finding his tone excessively ruthless."Mrs. Raymond would surely be heartbroken to hear this. Mr. Raymond, acting this way will only push Mrs. Raymond further away."

He scoffed dismissively. "She started it."

"But sir, if you'd just swallow your pride and apologize, Mrs. Raymond wouldn't be seeking a divorce."

Austin regarded it as a jest, lifting his eyelids to cast a cold glare at the secretary. "If you are so inclined to side with her, perhaps you should resign and serve as her personal secretary instead."

The secretary trembled with fright, lowering her head in a bid to make a quiet escape.

Yet,his gaze remained fixed upon the divorce agreement, his voice firm as he called her back, "It's not that I haven't tried to appease her."

The secretary halted abruptly, turning around with a bewildered expression.

A weary sigh escaped Austin's chest, betraying his evident helplessness. "She always pushes me away first and gets entangled with two other men.I just want her back at my side. So, because she went to Quantum Tech, she wants a divorce? If I don't rein her in, she'll never learn how to be a good wife."

The secretary finally understood. He cut to the chase, "What about Judith? She doesn't seem like someone easy to deal with. You've had us working overtime for a week on her project that hardly makes waves."

"Meanwhile, Mrs. Raymond's Prometheus Project was truly exceptional, yet you poached her core team members and deliberately sabotaged her. Don't you think that's going too far?"

Austin suddenly stood up, apparently hitting a nerve as he shouted,"Judith is different!"

"You have feelings for her?" The secretary boldly asked.

Austin fell silent.

Seeing no response from Austin, the secretary pressed further, "Then why?"
