Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Under the porch, a few figures stood scattered, and for a moment, the atmosphere seemed to freeze.

Standing in the center was Ethan.

He had ditched his usual suit and tie for casual clothes, giving him a more laid-back vibe.

His gaze wandered lazily, seemingly unintentionally landing in Wendy's direction, but deep within his eyes, there was an elusive emotion.

Beside him were Lydia and David.

It was David who had spoken just now.

What a small world.

The spacious, bright courtyard suddenly felt a bit cramped.

"Why is it you guys again?" Jessica, always straightforward, raised her eyebrows in annoyance and said, "Running into you today is just bad luck!"

As she spoke, she inwardly regretted her decision. She had planned to bring Wendy here for a relaxing soak in the hot springs, to unwind.

Who could have guessed they'd run into this bunch of jerks?

Wendy stood still, her emotions a mix of bitterness and frustration, her hand unconsciously clenching slightly.

She never expected to run into Ethan here, and with him, that always-smiling Lydia.

Old, unpleasant memories surged back, the hurt and neglect flooding her mind, making it hard to breathe.

Lydia, in her high heels, clung to Ethan's arm, feigning surprise as she said, "Isn't this Wendy? What a coincidence. This place isn't just for anyone, you know. Do you even know your place?"

Jessica, anger rising, stepped forward to shield Wendy, retorting without hesitation, "What do you mean by that? This hotel isn't owned by you.Everyone pays to be here, so why can't we come?"

She continued, "And you, following Ethan around all day, don't you have any shame?"

Lydia's face turned sour, but she had no comeback, looking to Ethan for support.

In the past, Ethan would have jumped in to defend Lydia before Jessica even finished speaking.

But today, for some reason, he remained silent.

Lydia, feeling wronged, teared up, looking pitiful as she said, "Wendy, I know you still have feelings for Ethan, but you two are divorced. I'mn his fiancée now, so please stop clinging to him."

Jessica couldn't help but laugh out loud, "What a shameless person!"

Susan also sneered at her.

Wendy lifted her gaze, giving Lydia a cold look, "Who's clinging to him?Do you think I'm still as blind as I used to be?"

Lydia scoffed, "Didn't you see my Facebook post and follow us here?"

Susan laughed. "Wendy blocked you guys ages ago. Who would look at your Facebook? It's hilarious!"

"I don't believe it," Lydia argued desperately, "If you didn't know we were coming, how could you just happen to be here? You're stalking us."

Wendy, not wanting to engage, was about to pull Susan and Jessica away when a deep, clear voice rang out, "She came with me."

Everyone turned instinctively towards the voice, seeing Alexander, tall and imposing, striding over, pushing Chris in a wheelchair.

Alexander's sharp gaze swept over everyone, finally landing on Wendy.

"Alexander.". Wendy was stunned.

Alexander's arrival instantly quieted the previously chaotic space.

Ignoring the others' shock, Alexander pushed Chris to Wendy, smiling slightly.

It seemed like the most natural coincidence.

Susan nudged Wendy's arm, winking at her.

Wendy rolled her eyes at her, saying nothing.

Chris, unaware of the underlying tension, looked towards Wendy.greeting her excitedly, "Wendy, you're here early."

Wendy smiled warmly at them, a stark contrast to her demeanor with Ethan and the others.

Ethan's eyes darkened, a barely noticeable chill flashing in his gaze.

Alexander noticed Ethan's look, subtly shifting to shield Wendy.

Ethan narrowed his eyes, feeling a sudden surge of anger. 'This Wendy,it seems she really has gotten involved with Alexander from the Turner family.'

They hadn't even finalized the divorce, and she was already eager to come to the hotel with another man. How shameless!

He completely forgot about Lydia standing beside him.

As everyone harbored their own thoughts, Linda suddenly emerged from the lobby.

Seeing the group, she was a bit taken aback.

Weren't Ethan and his group supposed to come in a few days?

How did they all end up here together?

This was a nightmare for her as the owner!

So many people, how was she supposed to handle this?

Linda looked at the tense group, her head buzzing.

This was bad!

So many people gathered, what if a fight broke out?

She hurried over to diffuse the situation, "Since' everyone is here, let's go inside!" She quickly signaled to David to take Ethan and Lydia inside first.

David, catching her hint, cooperated, "Alright, let's go inside. It's quite cold out here."

Ethan gave Wendy a blank look, then said to David, "Well, aren't you going to help my wife with her luggage?"

Given his past mistakes, David was now very cautious, finding Ethan's intentions hard to read.

He looked at Wendy, then at Lydia, hesitated for a moment, and whispered to Ethan, "Um, Ethan, just to confirm, who do you want me to help?"

Ethan smacked him on the head, "Don't push me to kick you."

Using what little intelligence and emotional insight he had left, David thought for a moment, then stepped down from the porch and walked into the courtyard.

Though he tried to lower his voice, the courtyard was small, and everyone heard him.

Ethan directing David to help with the luggage-who else could it be for?

Everyone knew, feeling a bit sympathetic towards Wendy, Ethan's ex-wife.

Wendy,of course, knew it wasn't for her. She remained expressionless, not caring about David's actions.

Lydia had already pulled her suitcase over, ready to hand it to David, "My suitcase is a bit heavy..."

Before she could finish, David stopped beside Wendy, picked up her suitcase, and walked away.
