Wendy had no interest in hearing Sarah's excuses. She wouldn't believe a single word, not even a punctuation mark, turning sideways to avoid her and walk straight forward.
Seeing Wendy ignore her and walk away, Sarah's anger flared up.
She glared at Wendy's back, clenching her fists, wishing she could tear Wendy apart right then and there.
She had already lowered herself to apologize, and Wendy didn't even acknowledge her.
But,thinking about her plan, Sarah had to swallow her anger and force herself to calm down.
"Wendy, I've already apologized. What more do you want? My mom didn't do iton purpose," Sarah muttered, trying to catch up, worried that Wendy wouldn't believe her apology.
Wendy glanced at her coldly. "If you and your mom really don't want to cause me trouble and are sincerely apologizing, then stay away from me.The farther, the better."
Sarah, already fuming, almost exploded at Wendy's icy words.
She gritted her teeth, glaring at Wendy's retreating figure, cursing under her breath, 'You bitch, given a bit of respect and you don't appreciate it.We'll see who has the last laugh!'
Two days later, the hot post on the hospital's internal network forum was filled with a nine-square grid photo.
In the photo. Sarah has her head down and her eyes are red. The caption reads: [A rich girl sincerely apologites. Can'the benevolent heart of a doctor be relieved?]
Because of this. Sarah's reputation at the hospital began to improve.
[Who would've thought the spoiled Sarah would ever admit her mistakes?Since it was her mom's fault. we shouldn't blame her entirely.]
[Sarah's apology shows she has a good heart. After all, we're colleagues.Let's be generous and give her a chance.]
[Sarah's a rich girl, so she must have good manners. Look, she cleared up the misunderstanding and apologized to Dr. Knight. We should give her a chance to make things right.]
Though there were still some criticisms of Sarah on the forum, it was much better than before.
At least it wasn't all negative, and occasionally there were comments praising her fashion sense and looks.
Wendy had no interest in what Sarah was thinking or planning.
The side effects brought by targeted drugs were eroding her body.Diarrhea made her legs weak, and the feeling of nausea surged up like a tide at any time.
But she still had no appetite and had lost a lot of weight, looking very unwell.
Despite this, Wendy insisted on working as usual, getting up early every day to put on makeup to look a bit more presentable.
"Wendy, you look exhausted," Micheal, holding a cup of coffee, stopped her and his gaze fell on her pale face. "Have you been too tired recently?"
"It's nothing, just haven't been sleeping well." Wendy forced a smile, hiding her fatigue.
She didn't want anyone to know she had liver cancer.
Fortunately, the hospital's confidentiality was excellent. Only a few oncology staff knew about her condition.
"That's good." Michael patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Make sure to rest and don't overwork yourself."
Wendy nodded.
After Michael left, Wendy took a deep breath, composed herself, and headed to the patient rooms.
A sharp colic came from her stomach. She suppressed the urge to retch and fine beads of sweat oozed from her forehead.
She clutched her stomach and slowly squatted down, hoping it could relieve the pain.
"Hey,you okay?"
A deep, clear male voice suddenly sounded beside her.
Wendy looked up to see Alexander in a sharp blue-gray suit, walking towards her with concern.
Seeing her in pain, he reached out to help her up.
Wendy leaned against his arms, inhaling the scent of cedar mixed with
tobacco on him, and felt much better for no reason.
Looking at hher pale face, Alexander frowned and asked, "Where does it hurt?"
"It's nothing, just some side effectsfrom the medication," Wendy shook her head, trying to stand on her own.
Alexander frowned, "Just to be safe, let's get you checked out."
"No need, I'm a doctor. I know my body well."
Alexander pursed his lips, his tone filled with worry, "Are you sure?Maybe you should take a few days off?"
"I'm really fine, but thank you for your concern," Wendy smiled at him.
Alexander knew her stubbornness and that further persuasion would be useless.
He sighed deeply and said, "If you feel unwell, don't push yourself, okay?"
Wendy nodded and then asked, "Alexander,is there something you came here for?"
Alexander took out several light blue tickets from the inner pocket of his suit. The gilded words "Breath of the Wild" on the tickets flickered under the light. "The concert tickets for Susan."
He paused for a moment, his gaze sweeping over her sunken cheek. "But your current state..."
"It's okay," Wendy took the ticket and touched the thin callus on his palm with her fingertips. "If you miss this, you might never have the chance again."
"Don't say that!" Alexander interrupted, frowning. "You'll get better. There will be plenty of chances. If youlike, I'll take you to every concert."
Wendy stared at him for a moment, then smiled, "Thank you, Alexander."
Alexander clenched his fist and said seriously, "Don't worry. I'm here with you."
His words made Wendy's eyes well up. "Okay."
Alexander smiled warmly, about to say more when footsteps echoed down the hall.
Wendy's eyes widened, and she quickly pocketed the tickets, signaling Alexander to leave.
Their relationship was already the subject of many rumors. If they were seen together again, it would only fuel the gossip.
Alexander understood and quickly walked away, but not before reminding her,"Take care'of yourself."
Wendy watched him leave, her emotions mixed.
Later, she took a picture of the concert tickets and posted it in the group chat.
The chat exploded with excitement.
Susan sent several excited emojis and voice messages one after another."
Mr. Turner is amazing! I finally get to see my idol's concert!"
Jessica chimed in, "Awesome! My colleagues will be so jealous. I'm posting this on Facebook right now."
Linda: [I'm so jealous! I want to go too.]
Wendy:[@Linda,you have a ticket too.]
Linda replied immediately: [Really? I'm going to treasure it and sleep with it every night.]
Susan sent a mocking emoji and replied:[Where's your dignity?]
Linda: [In front of my idol, I can lose all my dignity!]
Wendy couldn't help but smile at their banter.
