Chapter 84: Chapter 84

"No need to look, I already know."

A familiar voice suddenly cut through the air. Wendy and Alexander turned in unison to see Francis striding over.

"Where were you just now?" Aļexander asked, raising an eyebrow.

Francis couldn't hide the smug look on his face as he explained with a grin, "I saw you were busy greeting guests, so I wandered around.Who knew I'd catch something interesting."

He tapped his phone screen, revealing a photo.

In the photo, in a corner of the backyard, a shifty-looking man stood with a woman whispering in his ear.

The man was the same scoundrel who had just tried to assault Wendy in the garden, and the woman was none other than Sarah!

Wendy's heart surged with anger. This Sarah, always causing trouble and provoking her, had now resorted to such despicable tactics.

Francis swiped to the next photo and snorted. "I bet she's not the only mastermind behind this."

The new photo showed Chris protecting Wendy earlier, with a waiter carrying a tray of drinks walking by.

But behind the waiter, someone had stuck out a foot, tripping him.The waiter stumbled, causing the drinks to spill all over Chris'suit.

And the owner of that foot was now standing with Sarah, chatting and

laughing as if nothing had happened.

Alexander's face darkened, his eyes slowly locking onto Lydia.

Chris, though he couldn't see the photos, could guess who was causing trouble from their conversation.

Chris' face flushed with anger, and he gritted his teeth, "That Sarah! I need to teach her a lesson. She bullies Wendy every day, thinking Wendy is easy to mess with!”

"Chris!"

Alexander shot him a look and held him back, "Let's hear what Wendy has to say first."

"Chris, can you do me a favor?" Wendy looked at Chris gently, though her eyes burned with suppressed fury.

"Of course, Wendy, just say the word."

Wendy leaned in and whispered something in Chris' ear, piquing Alexander and Francis' curiosity.

Chris burst out laughing, "Wendy, that's brilliant!"

"Go on then." Wendy smiled slyly, a glint of mischief in her eyes.

After Chris was taken away by Eddy, Wendy turned to Alexander,"Alexander,I'll need your help next."

"Sure," Alexander agreed without hesitation, "Just tell me what you need, don't hold back."

"Thanks." Wendy flashed him a radiant smile, her bright eyes shimmering

like rippling water, stunningly beautiful.

On the other side of the hall, Ethan was chatting happily with several company executives, while Juniper mingled with a group of socialites, laughing obsequiously.

Sarah and Lydia sat on a sofa, eyeing Wendy with ill intentions.

Sarah was scheming how to embarrass Wendy in public.

At that moment, Chris, in his wheelchair, was pushed over by Eddy.

"Lydia." Chris tilted his chin up, his tone slightly arrogant.

Lydia looked at him in surprise but stood up, knowing that Chris was a favored member of the Turner family, and this was their event.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Turner?" she asked softly, her demeanor elegant and poised.

"T'd like to have a drink with you." Chris said, signaling Eddy to hand her a glass of red wine.

Eddy smiled and extended the glass to her, but just as it was about to touch her hand. Eddy stumbled, spiling the wine all over Lydia's expensive dress.

Lydia was furious but had to suppress it, though her face couldn't hide her anger.

"Sorry, I twisted my ankle and spilled the wine on your dress. I'm really sorry," Eddy said, bowing sincerely.

Eddy was tall and burly, and as he bent down to apologize, his imposing figure seemed even more pronounced, giving off a sense of pressure.

Lydia forced a smile, "It's okay, I didn't stepaside in time."

She cursed Eddy in her mind a hundred times over.

"I apologize on Eddy's behalf," Chris said calmly, "How about this, I'll have some new dresses from LuxeLavish sent over for you as compensation."

LuxeLavish dresses were extremely expensive, and this lavish gesture drew envious glances from those around.

Before Lydia could respond, Sarah eagerly answered for her, "Sure, Lydia.you should go with Mr. Turner to change."

In her mind, if she could use this opportunity to get closer to the Turner family, it would make it easier to approach Alexander in the future.Such a good chance couldn't be missed.

Lydia didn't know what Sarah was planning, but her dress was too stained to stay, so she thanked Chris, "Thank you, Mr.Turner."

With that, Lydia followed Chris and Eddy upstairs.

Soon, LuxeLavish staff arrived with dozens of haute couture dresses.dazzling and luxurious.

Lydia looked at the beautiful dresses, feeling a pangof jealousy.

She knew that high-end custom dresses were reserved for the wealthy and influential, not just anyone with money could buy them.

These brands were very selective, carefully vetting their clients'backgrounds and social circles to protect their reputation.

Some of these brands Lydia had long admired but coud never qualify for.

She picked up a dress and went into the fitting room.

As soon as she went in, Chris hurried downstairs with Eddy's help.

Sarah, finding it boring after they went upstairs, went to find Juniper.

Juniper was complaining with a group of socialites.

"How shameless, coming to the Turner family's party, isn't she afraid of running into us?"

A socialite asked curiously, "That Ms. Knight seems quite dignified, not like whnat you described."

Juniper waved her hands excitedly, "It's all an act, all fake!"

She turned and saw Sarah behind her, asking casually, "Sarah, where's Lydia?"

"Lydia went to the restroom," Sarah replied softly.

In front of these prominent figures, she couldn't reveal that Chris had accidentally spilled wine on Lydia's dress, and had to cover it up to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Sarah was racking her brain for a way to smear Wendy when Chris was pushed over by Eddy again.

Sarah instinctively looked behind him, puzzled, "Where's Lydia?"

Chris replied impatiently, "Lydia is still changing. I'm here to tell you that Alexander wants to see you, in the room on the far left of the second floor. You should go quickly."

"Alexander wants to see me?" Sarah's face lit up with joy, but then she

remembered the scheme against Wendy and became wary,"Why does Alexander want to see me?"

"How should I know!" Chris snapped, "I just saw him with a necklace, the one he spent millions on at an auction. I begged him for it, but he wouldn't give it to me!"

"He specifically told me not to tell anyone. Why do you think I went to the trouble of getting Lydia out of the way? If you don't go, fine! I'll give the necklace to Wendy!"
